I might go this road too as my airmatic failed on the driver side .. Is it possible to adjust the height manually upon installation? The picture I saw is too low for me and for the roads around here

Are there any extra parts that I need to order beside this kit? or it will replace whatever is there considering to take care of the existing airmatic system(pump, lines, distributor, fuses, relays, etc..)?

Yes you can adjust the suspension manually!

It should probably be added that to adjust height, the car needs to be off the ground(aka sitting on jack stands or a lift. To adjust shock rebound it can be done via the adjusters(32 clicks) On my M3 I left them in the middle and it gave a firm yet not bone jarring ride

Hey Amir,

I will receive mine at the end of this week as it was shipped already. when you installed the coilover, did you adjust on it before driving it? How high is the standard low level out of the factory (with no adjustment done on it)? compared to our airmatic options?

I did adjust mine before driving. The standard setting is almost two inches lower than stock. You can go way lower than Airmatic ever could.

finally, i installed mine, bur I want to raise the rear ones because it is too low and that will cause too much issues for the car where I live.

What is the best way to adjust? spring or the shock absorber?

Can the rear shock absorber be asjusted for hardness and softness like the front ones? are they the same?

is the ride too low with the coil overs adjusted all the way up? can you post a picture with how the car is sitting now?

I am thinking about converting mine if i end up keeping the car but wouldnt want to deal with trying to source different springs for the rear.

The rear standard settings without any changes, looks like amir's rear car in the picture he posted.

I will adjust it today, another issue I face is that the car under high speed (130 km/hr and above) and also at high WOT swings left and right as if there is unbalance and this is dangerous. I can not tell the reason because I have to adjust the height first.

You need to make sure everything is tight and nothing is loose. If you didn't tighten one of your control arms, track arm, camber arms, or toe arms or sway bars. You could potentially have this problem. Let me know how it goes.

So has anyone actual adjusted the ride height to the highest level? I need a coil over setup that can go up to an inch higher than stock.
Remember guys these springs will settle 0.25 to 0.5 inches lower than whatever you set it. I have had so many coil overs in the past and no matter the brand, it eventually settles considerably lower than you initially set it about 2 to 4 months post install.

I have used hypercoil springs, eibach race springs, jic, tein, ohlin, kw, etc etc and they all settled a bit lower (changing my alignment settings).

Btw the guy who is having weird swinging action, it's cos your car is too low and your toe settings are out of whack. You are very toe'ed out.

It wasn't the springs, you had bushing bind up. Quality springs don't sag

as long as the have threaded sleeves (Which they do) you can adjust the ride height to pretty much anything you want

The car was so low on the rear with the standard setting, I raised it a little bit using the adjustable spring but still swings on high speed and sometimes under some load of WOT. I still need to raise it up a little bit and I am considering to change the bushings on the control arms us I bought them used from W211 (E320). That will be my last action and let's hope all goes fine.

Actually yes they do, not so much sag but settle. In the first few months they will drop a bit but sometimes up to half an inch (Eibach race springs eg UUC-Ground controls) or less than 0.25 inch (eg Hypercoil race springs)

And no I did not have coil bind, the changes happened over time not some immediate thing after rolling backwards and forward. I am that obsessive, I checked, rechecked and adjusted ride heights and changed it constantly till I had it exactly the way I wanted it.

^^Ok your opinion, great, you can keep it, but in my experience with at least 6 coilovers i have installed in my cars alone (none of the Tein, Jic, crap), I have had very different experiences. Yes even the KW "sagged" or "settled" almost half an inch lower over the course of 6 months

Now back to the subject at hand....

Can the BCs be adjusted to ABOVE stock height or do I need to get shims?

I just installed the BC coilovers, and adjustment is anything but easy!!!
Even the front is a b***h, the rear?? forget about it. Height adjustment is made on the spring and makes it almost impossible to adjust the height without removing one bolt on the rear control arms, dropping the rear exhaust then removing the spring and adjusting it out of the car. Unless I am missing something here but if easy mean all day to adjust the height, then yeah it might be
