Who has Vredesteins?

Like em? The 20" sizes I need in PSS 3 are backordered again, now till December. My tire dealer loves the Vreds. Has them on his M3. If you have them, tell me what you think...245/40 and 285/25/20. Would love to see what they look like on your wheels too. Thanks for the info...BTW, he offered to take them off and replace them with the Michelins when they come in, so that's quite a bit of confidence in them...

They wear out kinda fast, I went through 3 sets of them when I ran 20s. But, they are cheap.

I'm now on 19" Michelin pilot super sports and love them. Best tires I have ever ran on any car Ive owned. 2nd being Michelin PS2.

I dont drive her in the rain, so that doesn't concern me. I just want them to be round with no radial pull. And given the camber issues with these cars, wear is a issue with all of them.
I agree that the pss is by far the best. But Michelin simply does not have any rear tires I can use, anywhere, and looks like potentially another 2 months.

I never even heard of them until recently. My bro put them on his 335is with 19 inch rims and they hook really well. Not sure about long term but def has a lot of grip.

Aww bummer... I ran 285 30 19s on my car and wanted to stay the same. I actually had a hard time going with the 275 30 19s. Because I didn't want to go backwards. Or so I thought. I now have more grip then I did with the 285s by far. Incredible tires...

The vreds are decent and cheap if you need the 285 25 20. Thats what I ran they looked ok. But, the 20s rode too harsh for me.

K-MAC manufacture Front Camber and Caster kits and Rear Camber and Toe adjuster kits to properly compensate for premature edge tire wear and improve traction. Currently front and rear Toe only adjustment is available OEM on virtually all Mercedes models.

Michelin makes a 295 25 20 that will fit. I have Vredesteins 285/25ZR20 and 245/30ZR20 on currently and am very happy with them for the price. I have a set of 295 and 245 Super Sports I found on Ebay for a steal that will go on next. As for the camber wear, I just drive in town with the car lowered limited miles, long drives on the highway I raise it up, seems to help.

Perhaps k Mac misunderstood...

but I'm looking for tire thoughts here. I have her quite "square" alignment wise, and considering that the radial pull moves from side to side, I am looking for compliant, round tires with no radial pull issues. Unfortunately, I do not know of another tire that handles those issues as well as the Michelin. Wish there was another. I would like to try the Vreds, but what I keep hearing is great "for the price". I have way too much time and aggravation in this car for it not to be it's best. It looks like that means michelin.
I appreciate the suggestion on the 295/25, but it, like most Michelin tires, is on north American backorder status right now, as is the 275/30/20. I suppose I wait.

I did not like them. My favorite is the federal SS-595. Not sure if they have the size you are looking for, but they are cheap, have better traction than most other tires I have had, and wear well.

I'm running 19" Vreds. Awesome tires. Will buy them again.

taurran 10-17-2013 09:29 AM

I ran them for a while when I first bought the car. I went through EIGHT tires within a 1-2 year time, having experienced continual sidewall blowouts while driving.

They seem to have really weak sidewalls. Don't run them if you're lowered.

allenjdmb 10-17-2013 01:09 PM

I don't see...

much alternative except to wait for the Michelins. Another 6-8 weeks, IF they don't go on backorder again.
If you know a retailer that has two 285/25/20 PSS, let me know. I'm in the industry but would be happy just to find two. They don't have to do anything but hand (or ship) them to me....
