Engine squeak when cold

When I go to start my E for the first time of the day, or in a few days, there is a very audible squeak coming from the engine. You can hear it pretty good from the side, but it's kind of hard to tell where it's coming from when you are under the hood. The squeak stops after the car has warmed up, say 5-10 minutes driving, and then doesn't happen at all for the rest of the day, until the car sits for a while. Do you guys think this is just one of the idler pulleys (first on list of upgrades is Shardul's pulley set), or perhaps something else?

Perhaps grease or lubricant is sitting on one of the belts. its slipping during cold starts, and as the temperatures rise in the engine bay the belt gains more friction against the pulleys. Happened to me before.

I uploaded a video to youtube of it. I should note that it didn't happen yesterday when it was like 70 degrees out, but it did happen tonight when it was about 50. It goes away by the time i get to the end of my road/neighborhood.

Sounds like a squeak from one of your pulley bearings. You can go ahead and swap pulleys as a preventative measure or you can take the belt off, spin the pulleys and see if there is any noise or roughness/play felt while the pulley is rotating.

I got mine 2 weeks ago, same squeeky sounds on and off. it was the front pulley. Be very careful and change it ASAP. Meanwhile just drive the beast slowly.

Which pulley was it on yours? Shardul's 5 piece pulley upgrade is already on top of the list once i get some modding cash together
