Sleet and freezing rain got the better of me...
I thought I was a decent driver but I have literally slipped up on that thought. Doing 25 MPH on this dreadful day I was cut off by another car in the midst of a possible spin out...I tapped the brakes and avoided that collision, but when I went to correct my own mistake the rear end got a little squirrely on me. Long story short, rear end went right, then left then kept going left...and around I went. Ended up sliding facing oncoming traffic and BLAMMO...Left rear wheel slams into the curb. The front left smacks square into the metal of the sewer drain on the curb. ESP failure, Car too low to move, voltage indicator popped up and all i could do at the moment was cringe and beat my head into the steering wheel.
On one hand my baby is damaged and at the shop. On the other, it's at a great INDY shop and I'm getting some awesome upgrades after my driving failure. Arnott struts and shocks, new wheels, continental DWS rubber all around, new tie rod, new control arm, installation of my CF lip from Gary, a reman AGW, and a SBC. I will never do this kind of thing on purpose but I am very fortunate to have great insurance and an awesome shop! Will be getting the front bumper repaired and repainted. I thought about the E63 conversion but I like the look of the rounded bumper. Can't wait to get my baby back...hopefully I'll have her back in two weeks.

https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...h-rebates.html link for coilovers you could say screw the Arnott and just do that... Sorry about that
You could print out this coil Overlink and give it to your Indyhttps://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...step-step.html
If you're going to do the Arnott's what some of us have done is get the part number off the Arnott website and then get them from advanced auto parts with the coupon code and you save a little, and to give you 200$ cash on the spot at ADvance auto with the core.

Not sure what tires you were running before, but....
Continental DWS-- Issues that are really common are when cold they are out of balance, and sorta flat spot. I had a set on my E350 sport, so same size as what we have, but I lived 4 miles from the interstate. Anytime the vehicle had sat for 10 hours or more, I would drive 35mph for the 4 miles, then the Interstate was 75mph. Just as soon as I got up to speed they vibrated like a out of balance tire. It took several miles to correct itself.
This January 1st I left the vehicle in NC and was driving two other cars for the next 7 weeks. The e never moved. When I got back in it going out of the neighborhood it was fine. As soon as I passed 40mph I thought I had a flat, the front end seemed to almost be falling apart. Scared me at first, then I realized what it was, and 2 miles up the road it sorted itself out and was fine. Personally I loved the quiet ride, but wouldn't deal with that again. One plus was Great in the snow. Drove in Charlotte for two nights in 8in of snow three weeks ago on the roads. Out drove a Subaru, so must be decent. I credit the tires.
Michelin Pilot AS3 are within 30 per tire of the DWS prices now. I would jump on that personally. Running hankook vents 12 eve's right now on the 63, very quiet, balanced nice, but wheel hops a tad under throttle in 1st and 2nd. Not full throttle though. They do hook up decent. But when they are worn I will go to the AS3 or the Continental DW. AS3 might be best if you have to drive in those conditions.
Just my .02 hope it helps you out.

The reliability of airmatic is not something that I'm a fan of.... But the ability to raise the car with the push of a button is quite nice and I am kind of fond of the airmatic ride and being able to pick up a bunch of people at the airport and still keep a decent ride height and ride quality is something to be grateful for also I understand some guys like the coil overs and are looking for more sporty ride but this fits the bill for my application plus it's nice with the weight transfer at the dragstrip is what I'm told anyway.

I had the V12's, they were nice but were beginning to have uneven wear. The inside of the tires were worn more than the outside. Odd thing was that the front and rear tires were flipped...the wider tire was on front and the smaller tire was on the rear. Not sure how that happened but I overlooked that when i bought the vehicle last year.
Mercs typically wear on the inside tread. Usually Dealers do not do full adjustments when Aligning the vehicle. They just do Toe and not camber. Even those who do camber adjustments only do it on the areas that have adjustments. There are kits a GOOD aligner will use to add to the car so All 4 wheels can be adjusted. This will eliminate till its out of line again the inside tire edge wearing. Make sure you get the Full alignment done when the car is Fixed.

No way! I've gotten food poisoning from that place!! But the hooters across the street could be the real reason.... they are always so nice when you walk in and the windows are HUGE...

Definitely glad that the incident was just me and no one else in the vehicle. Only thing that hurt was ego but even then, I'm glad I'm still here.
Minor repairs that lead to awesome upgrades! Cant be mad at that!
