10.09 @ 138 New 55 Record
Went to the track again today and ran 10.09 @ 138 as best ET of the day. 60 to 130 in 6.29 and the best trap of the day was 138.71. Best 1/8th mph was 108.4mph. DA was around -160. So close to 9s but it wasn't meant to be.
I couldn't get the car to hook all day, if it did it should have gone 9s
On the last pass I decided to run in the left lane (street tire lane which I have never done before today) and soon as I hit around 75 to 100mph the engine grenaded and made a huge hole in the block pouring oil down on the track causing the car to suddenly turn right and head for the wall. I managed to keep it out the wall while spinning down the track. Luckily I was in the left lane and not the right or I'd probably be in the hospital right now with a totalled car.
Closer
And here are some of the parts picked up off the track
Thanks to Weistec for the supercharger to make this power and EC for the base file
EDIT: This is a CLK55 not an E55 if you didn't notice from the pictures yet

You were All So Close.. Congrats on the 10.09 though!!
Good job keeping her off the wall and you now know the limits of that 55 N/A junkyard motor..
Perhaps a 55K junkyard short block next time??

Wow, sorry to hear about the motor but like others have said thank God you weren't hurt.
Congrats on the record pass, wish I was there to see this but I got smashed while sacrificing a lamb for Easter the day before the event (you know how us Greeks do)

The nipple was just something I picked up on the track but we don't think it went to his engine. There's was 5 of us picking pieces of the track for 15 minutes and I had 2 handfuls of tiny aluminum pieces myself so when it let go it did it big time lol.

WOW - Sterling said it - "bitter sweet"
Great to see you laid down an awesome number, and it sucks to see a motor grenade?
Keep us posted - Wondering what the weak link was?

Thank you. It could've been much much worse so I caonsider the day a success.
Thanks. I'm not sure if it was the limit of the junkyard motor. I have to tear it down and hopefully be able to determine what let go. I looked at the logs and something was not right.
Yea it went out like a soldier! There's a huge hole in the block. Will take pics when I decide what to do with it.
Sure did. I'm still impressed with the power it made.
That would only fix 6 of the cylinders though.
That piece is not from my car.
Nah it's not from my car. Just was on the track.
Thanks. I have to decide whether I want to rebuild it or just move on.
Oh yea. Trying to keep a car out of the wall with oiled down slicks and skinnies will give you the ride of your life!
Thanks. Haha nice
Exactly. There were bigger chunks of the block on the track but I don't think I got pics of that.

I'm not sure what it was. I should know better when I tear it down. Hopefully can determine then. Looking at the log something wasn't right.

First off, I'm glad you're ok man. Things can get nasty when you start spinning at speed on a track. Secondly, CONGRATS on pushing the envelope. 10.09 is no joke!

Thanks
lol
I don't consider it giving up. More like moving on to better things. Otherwise it will never end.

Stop using all that nitrous and you won't have these problems.
Nice job keeping it out of the wall. Congrats on the ET, of course. Now rebuild it without the sneaky pete.
