E55 AMG

Officially in the market for an E55

finally sold my beloved E39 yesterday. I am in search of an e55 2005/2006 with 80-100k miles. asking price must be under 16k i know these cars are worth more than this but iv found a couple at that price and just want more options. must have NAV would like to have keyless go, the rest of the options dont matter to me. if anyone comes across anything please let me know. would like to get one ASAP. Car can be anywhere in the south where there is no rust and snow. east or west coast.

Plan to pony up more $ if you want a decent 05, or 06, with options.
You may find one for less $, but remember you get what you pay for.

these wheels gotta go. i think i can pick up one of those for 15k cash. black one doesnt know anything about the maintenance but the silver one says the car was under warranty and she has always maintained it well. car has good tires, no leaks, and both front struts replaced.

It's just sad what these cars can be picked up for now. Luckily pristine ones are still holding some value. But well used ones are cheap cheap cheap. Deals if they don't turn out to be maintenance nightmares.

Does anyone know if all 05-06 e55s have dynamic seats, i noticed that the bottoms of the 03-04 ones are diff than those on the 05-06 ones.

Does anyone have a good Vid Decoder so i can find out which cars have which options.

Here is a local seller. He is asking for $18k but you can always send him your best offer. I know he recently converted from airmatic to Coilovers and he does not drive it in the winter.

I think he had an 540 e39. Either way from e39 to a E55 is great decision. 55kamg...Good luck on your search

from what ive heard the dynamic seats arent all they are cracked up to be. lots of issues with them. i wanted push button start and ended up getting an 06 E55 without and glad i did. some of those fancy bells and whistles turn out to be more pain in the *** than anything.

ya i feel ya. just put a down payment on a 05 with 80k on it. silver. going to pick it up this weekend. gonna be a 14 hour drive. well worth it for me.

My 05 does not have dynamic seats, but my buddy just picked up on 06 that does. Same color combo as mine but a few more options.

I've had one E55 with dynamic and one without. Frankly I think it's better without. The two have exactly the same set of adjustments for the side, back, and thigh bolsters. The dynamic seats add the pulse/massage feature (which is kinda nice) and the automatic side bolsters (which are kinda creepy). But they also tend to randomly inflate and deflate the seats, you have to adjust them almost every time you get in the car. You can google up that many folks have this problem, and nobody seems to have found a solution.

The best VIN decoder is Mercedes own Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC). Go to http://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/welcome.jsp and click on the subscribe link. It's free, though you do need to enter a credit card (they use it to verify your address is in the USA). With EPC you enter the VIN of a car and push the 'data card' button. It pops up a window with all the equipment codes (standard and optional), the in-service data, the chassis and engine numbers, the paint and interior colors, etc. Very handy tool for a car shopper.
