Any comments? Any ideas? Anyone know someone that will offer reliable warranty for a used 78k e63.

thank you guys.
That is the going rate for a MB extended warranty. I just purchased a CPO 08e63 and the retail for the added 2 years was 5 grand. Since I bought the car through that specific MB dealer I got a deal on the extension and got it for 4 grand, which is still a lot of money but since the car was a CPO vehicle it was already covered for 1 year, so I now have coverage for 3 years.

Honestly if you are that worried about the miles, the cost to maintain a higher mileage AMG, which it's obvious you are.... I would just wait for a lower mileage one to come up for sale. At 27K for 78k miles you could spend 4-5 grand more and get one with 45-50k miles on it, and if your lucky find a CPO one. 4-5 grand more might seem like a lot for 30k less miles but that's really 2 years of driving with the average 15k miles a year, which is HUGE. Because then you end up with a car with 80k miles in 2 years which will hold its value a lot better than the current one in 2 years with 110k miles. After 100k you're going to loose more than that 4-5grand in diminished value so it's better to just fork it over up front than loose more than that in 2 years.

I agree. I also found a used e55 AMG at 60k driven and got a deal for 18,500 clean. The car was scratched up and the title was made "SALVAGE". The body was re-done and now it looks amazing but I can't find ANY company to give me warranty on this car.

I'm not trying to belittle you.... But is this your first car you've ever bought?! Why would you even consider buying ANY car with a salvaged title?!?! No bank will ever loan on a car with a salvage title, insurance won't pay you anything for it if you were to wreck it, and no warranty company will cover the car.

Most of your questions seem like common sense to me man...

If you do buy it make sure you get a warranty of some sort and a ppi. The price is good for the car and the warranty sounds about right. My two choices for warranties was 1. through merecedes and 2. usaa(car has to be 10yrs and newer). Both were 3 yr 36k around the same price but it was all in the language. Usaa was what it will cover and mercedes was what they wont cover(glass, trim and rubber), so I went with mercedes and i just recently used my warranty and they covered 3400 worth of work(rear suspension and fuel pump) and only charge i had was a 100 deductible.

So I found an e55 amg for 28k driven with a clean title. I called the MB dealer and one of them told me they will do 5 year extended warranty for 7.5k. Is this something worth it?

I think anything more than 3 years is too long for a warranty, unless you plan to drive the car to 200k miles, at which point I'm sure you'll be tired of it or will want to upgrade. Buy a 3 year and be done with it...

If you plan on keeping the car for 5 years I'd look for one with less than 80k miles. 5 years @ 12k a year will put you at 150k. Going to be REAL hard to sell a e63 with 150k for anything less than pennies on the dollar. I personally find it very hard to keep a car longer than 3 years, due to wanting to get the newer version, board of the car, something else comes out that looks fun. You may be different but chances are you will probably want something a bit newer when you get in the 120k+ mile range.

So, buy it and get 3 year extended, after that, trade that car in for a better?

I honestly would spend 5 grand more and buy one with 50k miles, get a 3 year warranty and trade/sell the car when you get close to the end of your warranty.

There are plenty of people on here who have recently purchased a e63 in the recent months with 50k miles on then for anywhere between 29-33 grand. Drive it for 30-40k miles and sell it before you hit 100k. You'll lose a lot less than you would trying to sell one with 120k+

28k miles?? Then that changes everything... Take a 3 or a 5 year warranty if you have the cash. Just make sure you get a PPI done on it before purchasing it.

So I got offered a 2004 E55 AMG for 26k clean out the door at 28k miles.

Waiting on the warranty quote. I want to ask you guys the warranty company info.

Always get the extended warranty, no brainer. Even if nothing happens, better be safe than sorry for sure. I got the 2 year, 12k miles $200 deductible for $4800 because I don't normally keep a car for more than 2 years, works perfect.. So, for an extra $200+ a month I'm covered, everything but cosmetic, including torque converter which I thought would be a wear\tear part. I think it's well worth it, considering the type of cars we drive here.

Before you go buying an E63, do a search on this forum for all the potential MAJOR engine problems.

Does Warranty typically cover MAJOR engine problems? What MAJOR engine problems are most common?

A lot of comments concerning issues with headbolts, and i've gathered that this is a very costly repair ($1,500-$2,000 for parts; $4,000 for labor). Would this be covered by warranty?

BTW, I have been quoted $5900 for 3 year/40,000 miles additional warranty through my non-Mercedes Benz dealership. Adding that on top of a $48,000 price on the car, makes for just below $54,000 all-in. After reading this post I have decided to call around some local MB shops, but I'm worried they won't offer extra warranty due to it being sold at a regular car dealership.

Exclamation

Hi guys, this thread is months old but I wanted to update my purchase.

Instead of buying the e63 I bought a 2005 e55 amg at 50k driven for $23,000 out the door. It is loaded with a brabus body package and 2 piece rims. I also purchased ez-care totalcare for around $4800 for 3 year/36,000.

Overall, the e55 is a monster. So much torque inside this engine it's ridiculous. My only main concern right now is that I want to tune it but I'm very afraid I might get denied if there are any warranty claims. Eurocharged stage 2 is like 3 grand. Anyone have a warrantied/tuned car that has been regularly service in the Los Angeles area?

Also some kill stories with my stock car.
1) 370Z
2) 745LI
3) CLK55
4) M3
5) Mustang 5.0 L
6) M5 by a little
7) S550
8) CLS550
