Radiator/Cooler Question!
Can anyone help me with the brass piece that goes to the radiator, bottom passenger side, I believe the transmission cooler line slides and locks into it. I cant confirm if this is oem radiator or not, can someone send me a picture of their radiator bottom left side?
It screws into the radiator then the line goes into it and has a spring clip holding it in place.

Good point Yacht master is the rad leaking from the insert into the bottom tank. What was the initial leak colour red or green, any coolant lose? Excessive torque on the brass nut could create a crack between the rad case and the insert. Watch carefully after install and operation after starting engine.

I think Yacht Master's point is that the anti-freeze in our cars is yellow/gold, not green. Our cars use the Zerex G-05 coolant.

The initial leak was RED. I've had the car for a few weeks now, haven't had time or funds to change everything over to spec. The problem I have is that the brass nut broke in one of the "slots" where the clip would go into, I figured I would get new o ring, put tape on the nut and thread it into the radiator, push the tranny cooler line into it, install the spring clip and maybe tape it up? What do you guys say?
I've never had a loss of coolant, when I pulled the brass plug, I saw the o ring was torn, figured that was my issue. I broke one side of the brass plug so that's what's stopping me right now, Mercedes can't locate the part in their diagram and is telling me the tranny cooler lines go to the BACK side of the radiator when clearly they don't.
The red arrow is point to what broke, just the tiny piece where the spring would slide into, other side is good. I think if I install the spring clip and use some tape, it'll hold. I cant locate the brass plug/nut anywhere!

Yes I understand the piece missing, have a pressure washer that has a similar setup, go figure.
Best bet would be to ask others on numerous sites if the have a radiator brass plug, or start cruising the scrap yards. You would think MB would have this part, possibly try another dealer, even ask to look in their old removed parts area, you never know.
Just wondering if it would be possible to go to a plumbing shop, Hydraulic supply store, Lowes, Home depot and source out a fitting then cut a groove on both sides. It looks similar to a connector that is threaded in on one side and soldered in on the other in a copper setup, might be worth a shot. Not sure if it would be standard pipe thread so go easy.
Good luck on you journey.
Cannot see that need you to buy the whole rad but it is MB??

OK, a closer look is necessary, the 03s had some radiator problems, as I recall the trans fluid cooler would leak coolant in to the transmission. Many of the (Velieo I think was the name) were replaced under warranty. So first thing check that you do have the updated radiator.
It is hard to say if the brass bushing/union is available, I am pretty sure the o-ring could be a standard one and relatively easy to find. to secure the clip rather than tape you might use wire.
Oh and yes like HeissRod says, The green is very hard on the plastic/composite parts in our cooling system, read header tanks, the G-05 is the way to go, good for 15 years.
there is a conditioner pack in the coolant tank that may need to be replaced after the green coolant has been used.
