my car is back in action

i had a black hawk down moment the other day as both fuel sender units failed and left me a bit high and dry right in front of starbucks - but a few hours later in the shop i was back up and ready to go -

car was looked at back in 2008 when the campaign was initially run, but since they were working fine no need to replace anything - fast forward 6 years and boom they go out - figured they lasted 79K miles - not so bad - simple job, but parts were - $550 a piece for the part and you need 2 plus the new updated adapters - at least the labor is only 2.1 hours -

also the rear door lock control went out so it sounded like a machine gun every time you tried to lock the doors -

so she is back up and working at 100% - now not sure i want to see after dumping another $1700 in.

Feel your pain. I got stranded last November about 90 or so miles from home and on an entrance ramp to interstate. Some say no need to replace ps but didn't want to chance it w two new units. Also got lock actuator replaced as well. Found out later spray wd40 or white grease and it lunes the runner o ring and no more machinngun.

@novae - what does this mean "Some say no need to replace ps but didn't want to chance it w two new units."

i spoke to several people and they say the PS unit never or rarely fails, its always the driver side that fails. For me peace of mind was to replace both sides and call it a day. Being stranded for 2 hrs was not fun at all sitting on the side of an entrance ramp to interstate.
