04 e500 no power
Hi guys a couple of weeks ago I tried starting my car and no power at all... As in none! Even the doors won't open or close using the remote, the ignition key wouldn't even turn. So I removed the main battery and charged it, checked the voltage before putting it back and checked also the aux battery... Both are good. So yesterday morning I put the battery back and still no power!
Can anyone help me please. Is there like a "power fuse" or something? I even tried jumping it but still no power. Please help! Thanks

somethings definitely wrong. few questions: have you done any aftermarket audio upgrade? has anyone been in the trunk for any reason? spare tire removal, etc etc..?? when you replaced the main battery, did you check any fuses, starting in the trunk area?? start with the big amp fuses in the trunk first. has anybody removed flooring of the passenger carpet area?? think everything over and lets see where we are. check those fuses especially the ones right beside the bcm in the trunk.

No, didn't replace anything and my car is inside the garage so nobody gets in there but me. I did checked the small fuses, all are good. I will check the big ones tomorrow . You know I don't even know how to remove that fuse cover inside the trunk. When I couldn't get the diagram online on the trunk fuse box... I didn't even bother removing the cover although I see them through the cover so what I just did was check every small fuses under the hood and the driver side and all are good. Also, how am I suppose to know if the big fuses are bad? I've never really removed or checked them at all but at this point I am willing to do anything! Thanks

if you have a multimeter, you can take the leads and place them on the very small metal tab on each side of the fuse without pulling them out of their location and see if there is continuity. being that there is no power, i would not worry about the small fuses, ie: 5 amps or even 10 amps, you will be looking for the BIG ones, 30, 40, 50 amps fuses. also: it doesnt seem the car even "know" a battery is hooked up?? when you placed the main battery back, was there a small spark when you placed the negative cable on?? trace both sets of cable: the + and -, making sure all is connected and no cuts in those lines. the battery control module: make sure it is secured/bolted to the car very well. it will be in the trunk bolted to the metal part of the trunk sometimes down around the spare wheel well. make sure that module is bolted very tight. let me get this correct: with the main battery connected, you get a reading of 12.6 volts or higher with your multimeter?

i work all night so sorry so late responses: but lastly: this sounds like more of a grounding issue if indeed the battery is "new" or "charged" and has correct voltage and the car is still "dead". if you can check the grounding of wires and then move onto the fuses. if you trace the battery control module, there should be an 8 gauge wire (approx) going to the fuse box right there in the trunk that will have some high amp fuses inside there. start there first. the negative cable comes off of the battery control module and the battery control module is grounded onto the vehicle in the spare wheel well area. make sure this is bolted tightly and start there. weird your car been sitting in the garage and this happened??? just damn weird man! good luck tomorrow! welcome to call man-- al green 561-713-0361. take care.

Thanks you very much for all the info. I will try all of the stuff you guys said this Saturday or I will make time to do it probably on Wednesday. No, there was no "spark" at all when i installed the battery. Even when i tried to jump it... no spark... no power... nothing! It is weird, No one goes to the garage coz its lock and i have the only key.
Theonly warning i remember (but saw it probably months ago) was the "1 malfunction, convenience functions only" something like that. Also before, I was having trouble with the cigarette lighter... when i plugged my charger... it wouldn't work so i replaced the fuse. it works... sometimes it doesn't. There was even a time that when i leave my phone charger inside the cigarette lighter my car won't "lock" or "unlock" when i press my remote... so i have to remove it before i leave the car or else i wouldn't be able to close it. Isn't that weird also?! Again, thanks for the info... I'm really going crazy here!!!
