Failed primary cat
So i had a primary cat fail today. Have the car in a muffler shop and they didn't think welding was an option as it was split and the break is up against the catalytic material inside the converter. Shop owner is recommending i contact Mercedes dealership to check if they would cover under emission warranty. He said he had a G55 in recently and the dealership covered same failure. So i have a call into the dealership to see what they say. My question is if anyone has had cat failures covered under warranty by the dealership? Second question is are there any aftermarket cats that would be recommended? I have a set of shorty headers...might be time for my first mod....lol

8 yrs 80,000 miles is warranty, federal law. Parts department is closed tonight - i will see what they quote me...sounds like $1200 per pipe. Anybody with recommendations and experience with any aftermarkets primary cats I am all ears...Thanks!

Magnaflow has a direct fit three piece midpipe with all 4 cats that's reasonably priced. If it only had two cats I would be all over this... My primaries have 150k on them.

Has anyone run with a cat delete replaced with a high flow (100cpi) cat with stock headers? While I wait to save up for some headers thinking of getting something like this made up and when the headers come in, just have it mated up.

First order of business is replace those worn motor mounts that caused the cracked catalytic converter in the first place, do a transmission mount also. You love the difference in feel of the car with new mounts

i picked up two cats when my oem ones failed from performance curve online. Very affordable and has done the job. No more rotten egg smell. Just need to also pick up a few 45 and 90 degree piping and have all welded together.
