E55/E500 M113 common parts
I realize I may have misunderstood or the site has it wrong but why does this MB parts website have the E500 and E55 engine sharing pretty much all the parts. Heads, cylinder block, oil pan and hell even the crankshaft..... WTF?!!

I just placed my order for one 1130102502. Complete engine. MSRP $80,080.00. Well, at least there's no core charge.

am i reading that right you bought just the engine for $80k? seriously? why does the engine alone cost more than 3x what i paid for the entire car?

It's one of the parts listed in op link. And no I didn't buy it

Amg is very "proud" of there engines. $60-80k on average seems to be the retail price of a complete engine.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the notion that the engine costs almost as much as the car cost new. Unreal

If you were to assemble the car from the retail parts counter, I believe it costs approximately 2.5 times the original MSRP of the car.
