Some more parts came in today.
Shock tops for the front assembly.
The steering universal joint I feel may be a bit lose and I took a chance on buying one to put in.
And the spring tops for the stock cars (that come in many thicknesses)
The issue now is that I feel I have two pieces that do the same thing. The bilstein kit has spring adjustment for the rear and from the parts it is done at the top, near where the spring sits in the body.
That would preclude the use of these set-tbickness spring "top holders" for the rear springs.
I'll take some pics. I have time still as I am waiting for a few more parts past Monday anyway, so I can sleuth out solutions before I dig in.

Good question. I have my reasons, and they look like this:
1) I am unsure who makes the shock hardware for the KW's
2) I am more familiar with the Bilsteins from the Porsche world, and I live near where they can be rebuilt (Poway, CA has a facility)
3) The bilsteins are adjustable (as are the KWs) but I feel as though from what was able to read there is more range.
4) I like Bilstein..
You may need to chalk this one up as "Personal Preference"
Did you know KW is OEM stock for one of the black series cars? And its a V3 instead of a V2, but you can't really GET the V3s for our car unless its 1000s more through the dealer?

You have to drop the subframe in order to get the bar out. Oddly enough, they only sell the bushings with the bar. Hmm, maybe add motor/trans mounts to your reno as well. But, you may be doing headers in the future and can knock all of that out at the same time.

I'll research the bar. I can do this in my garage if I put the suspension on this low mile 86.5 928 I am restoring and move it into the driveway. That would give me a flat surface and more privacy from lookieloos.

I did this in Feb. Love it. I will say it's not a fun job. I did it mostly by myself on a lift with air tools and it took a while. What year? This how to helped a lot but is on a 04 and I have a 06. I needed to drop the rear section of the exhaust to remove the rear control arm bolts. Just an FYI.

Waiting for the front shock hat shims, and the proper a-arm piece for one of the front corners, and then I will start.
I want to remove All remnants of the Airtragic, so am looking for info on removal of the front pump and manifold for the air lines, as well as the button panel by the shifter.

I saw a pic of the other DIY and the coils for the rear have some rubber to isolate them from the lower arm....

Have not started yet. Still need to find out how to rubber isolate the rear springs from the lower a-arms properly. There are coil sleeves I have found online, but not sure if that is the best option.
Have to get the 30k mile 928 out of the garage first before this shiny-part storm starts.

Good luck with the eventual install.
I have KW V2s on my E55 after the front two struts failed (at 30K miles)
At first I set the rebound way too hard, so the ride didn't meet my expectations.
A quick turn of the adjusters and the car rides absolutely amazing, and I can't even describe how much better the car handles. The KW V2 and Pilot Super Sports have transformed the car to an enjoyable handling car, maybe not a autocross monster.

Alot of delays in between the start of this story and the second act. The second act being the work as the car is disassembled and reassembled with the new parts.
So I still have the plan to convert to steel suspension, and the new additions so far to the plan are now:
Possible LSD unit (probably wavetrack)
MBH Headers install and related exhaust pipes (already have the headers)
Motormounts
Transfluid replacement
Trans mount
Conductor plate
Possible rear main seal leak repair
Rotors and pads all around
But the focus right now is disassembly, and man - am I good at that.
Car is up on stands and READY:
