190E 55K
Hey all.
For some time now this idea has been buggin and i really wanna what you think of it.
My friend has a 190e 4.3 mt, hand built by himself and that thing is pretty fast. Engine has a few tweeks, and last time we checked it made 287 whp. Being 1300 kg, it pulls wells.
Anyway, back to the point, i myself have 04 e55 492 whp/ 675 wnm which is pretty fast down here in georgia. Still modding and making it faster and racing really got me to understand , nomatter what i do to it, there will still be a handfull of cars that will be faster. So it got me thinking why not buy an old 190e , easily strip it down to 1200 kg and swap the engine and tranny from my E i am still modding so i should go about 540-550 whp and loossing 650 kg shoukd make a world of difference.
What you guys think if this?

The electronic side of installing a M113K is more work (read nightmare) than, than the engine/trans swap and rear end change out.
So much better to go with small block chevy & 6 speed.

Dude, I think that is an awesome idea. The 190E 2.3 16V is my all time favourite shape, because I remember them racing against the 325is and the Opel Superboss in a class called group 1, from my youth. I have seen a guy here in SA strip his 190E and rebuild it to full DTM race spec with a turbocharger added. The only thing better would be to add a modded M113K motor and trans! It will be an absolute nightmare to do, but the results will be amazing if you pull it off. Go for it.

Electronics can be dealt with. Wont be a walk in the park, but my electrician can do it.
Of course there will always be someone faster, bust just the idea of having 1:1.9 hp:kg ration is mind boggling

Engine swap will NOT be an electric nightmare. The M113k is actually archaic in design even for the time it was built, it however makes a ton of power and very durable. If you try to mate it with the stock trans and TCU....might be more of a handful since I don't know if the TCU expects a signal from the ECU to even work

If you are serious about this swap you might want to read Kaype's thread on the W210 page.

He started with an E430. He first turned it into a 55na and later swapped in a complete 55k drivetrain. He probably has some good insight into what is needed to do your 190E swap
