Ran the lines today. Pictures are not the greatest , but I will get some more later. The lines are run behind the heat shield by the right muffler. Then over the rear subframe, and to the front. This was a pain in the **** going over the subframe.

I got around running the lines to their permanent location. I have to make a trip to Summit Racing this morning for some odds, and ends. Hopefully I can get it fired up today, but who knows!


I used some thermo-tec reflective sleeve where the line runs close to the muffler.

Too much playing with my daughter, and not enough work1 I got my parts from Summit this morning, and began wiring it all in.



















I also made the connections for the lines at the rear of the vehicle. I will make my final connections, fill the system, and test the outcome this week some time. I still have an open circuit on the fuse panel for a meth pump when I need it as well.

Yes you will need to use coolant or distilled water. benzworks installed my tank and it has coolant in it. I have drained some out to fill with ice at the drag strip so I am not sure how often coolant will need to be added when draining to add ice

I split the cooling system last night, and made all of my connections up front! I then filled the tank, and fired it up.The system purged all of the air out within a minute or so. I then let it idle for about thirty minutes. I saw a maximum of 15 degrees over ambient during this time. I then took the car out for a quick little test run. The recovery time is phenomenal!. I was unable to do any long pulls, or even floor it due to the wet weather. The short busts of boost went up to about 8psi for possibly 10 seconds. The IAT's went up about 10 degrees then almost instantly back to 10 degrees over ambient!







Then when I got home I made another inspection, and found fluid in the trunk. I dried it and ran the car for another 30 minutes. Not a leak in sight. I took it out this morning to the grocery store. I checked the trunk when I got there, and found fluid. I was able to determine that the fluid is coming from the lid boss. I will have to get a new seal, or just use some sealant on it to correct the concern. It is quite aggravating that I have an issue with a brand new component though.

I have some extra MB glue if you need it :-)
Seems odd that it would seal so bad out of the box. Sloshing around is one thing but that seems a little ridiculous.
I like the IAT recovering that quickly!

I had the same problem when I got my Dads trunk. Fluid would leak or seep thru the lid boss (? that ring/circle (sorry I don't know what you call it) onto which the lid would screw on/off). The problem was resolved when I took it off, put sealant on it and some on the screws that held it in and reinstalled it. Never leaked since then.

That is what I did as well. I was astonished to find that they did not install any type of gasket, nor put any sealant on it . Did they expect it to hermetically seal itself??

I'm starting to run my lines now. Getting around the rear suspension is going to be tricky. I need to see some more pics. I removed the big panel underneath the car thinking there would be some room for the hoses to run, but it looks pretty slim through there.

How did you do your plumbing? I'm thinking this:

Intercooler out --> heat exchanger --> trunk tank (Rule pump) --> I/C pump --> intercooler in

Due to the fact that I am running -12AN line, and not rubber hose I am not worried about the lines collapsing in the tight areas. I started running the lines over the subframe, and it was tight as hell. I aided the cause by loosening the right rear subframe bolt. This made it much easier to feed it through. There is a slim channel above the under panel. It is not deep enough to completely cover the lines. There is a bit if bulge in the panel once reinstalled.

I will discuss the sequence of components this evening.

I was able to run lines into the trunk without getting close to the exhaust. I started from underneath, a little forward of the rear wheel, kinda where the fuel filler goes into the tank. I went up and over everything and back towards the trunk pretty much dead center. Once I saw where the hoses wanted to enter, I got a 1-1/4" bore bit and made two holes in the bulkhead of the trunk It's double-walled there. then I was able to pull the hoses in.

In case you're wondering, 30 feet of hose is just a few feet short

I used about 43' of hose to run mine! I bought 50' to make sure that I had enough. I don't believe you though. You have not provided any pictorial evidence of your progress.

OK, fine. Here are some pics of the progress and how I have the lines ran through the rear. They are way up in there and kinda hard to see, but I did my best.

My trunk tank will be going over on the left side as my methanol tank is on the right. I had to take a hacksaw blade and remove that nub in the middle of the trunk that anchors down the spare wheel. I think the trunk design changed between the '04 and '05 model years. My battery is on the far right side of the trunk, so running the hoses straight out the middle was easy as boring two holes.





This is where I started my run. I taped the two ends of the hoses together to make it easier. Ran up and towards the centerline, then back.

This is looking up just behind the differential pumpkin. That's where they enter the trunk.



I'll be going forward underneath the panel here, up and over the fender liner, and then down to the Meziere and heat exchanger. Lines and ties will be snugged up once I'm finished running the lines and get them connected.





Anyone know where to order more of these? I've tried a few stores and looked around online a bit with no luck. I've noticed a couple of them missing and want to make sure all the panels are nice and secure.

That is the same route where mine come down behind the fuel tank. I could not go through the front of the trunk using bulkhead connectors though.

Due to them being micro encapsulated with thread locker. I just cleaned the threads, and used blue loctite

I can see why. That damn double wall has like an inch or two of separation between the layers. I bought some sweet metal grommets, but couldn't use them either.

My fittings finally came in and they were exactly what I was looking for. These fittings were a perfect fit for the Dad's tank. Big thanks to Verminator for the link:

Now, the tank is installed. I wired it into the cigarette lighter in the trunk and hid the wiring behind the plastic trim. I added an inline fuse and some quick disconnects so I can easily turn off the pump while I'm flashing a new tune. I still have room in the spare tire compartment for my tool kit and fire extinguisher.
