MTV's E55 Build Thread
Hi guys,
Relatively new here. Just picked up a W211 E55 last week. . . Figured it would look nice sitting next to the C63 lol. Wanted to create this thread to document my build. Shouldn't be too long before it's a couple pages deep. Specs: 2004 Brilliant Silver Metallic Black interior Panoramic Roof Car came with the following mods: C63 Mufflers Resonator Delete Lowering Links 19'' Verde V39 Parallax F: 19x8.5 ET30 R: 19x9.5 ET35 Quick Pic: https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...555c50872d.png |
Loking good, great start.

Performance wise I'm still doing my research. . . I'll definitely be doing pulley upgrade. I am going to go the Fixed Pulley route, as I am not a fan of the way the clutched pulley engages. Very ON/OFF feeling.. I'd rather have it on constantly. I understand I will need to keep an eye on my IAT's with the fixed pulley, though. As for pulley size, I'm still debating. An 83mm Supercharger pulley will be equivalent to a 168mm crank pulley, if I am not mistaken. A 77mm supercharger pulley is equal to 180mm crank.. but then you run into heat soak issues. Is the 180mm all that it is racked up to be? I recently watched a video of two E55's going at it; 1 with 168mm pulley and the other with 180mm... pretty much dead even. Anybody with input into this would be greatly appreciated. How much whp/wtq will I gain with the 168? Then comes cooling... I want to upgrade the heat exhanger and run the upgraded CM30 pump. Headers if I get crazy lol. That should be about it.. I hope... for my wallet's sake. |
got the same. congratz !!!
I heard fsp is noisy...but I never had one. if you are doing heat exchanger and pump then for sure go with a 180mm or 77mm sc. I got a 180mm cp with ec exchanger and meziere pump and kleemann header. never heat soak once. |
hmm I got a bit of heat soak with my 83 clutched, even with a H/E and 010 pump. I'll be doing a trunk tank soon and possibly a 168 cp.

Looks like a good car. What year is your 63? I'd be interested in hearing your subjective opinion on the differences between each.

How's that exhaust sound? Those mufflers are so hard to come by.

hmmmm sounds nice ... but I want to keep my second cats because I cant stand the stink... am I better off to just delete the stock res instead of using c63 res ? I want alittle more beastly now .. been driving kleemann + second cats + stock e55 res + c63 muffler :smash: |
I wasn't too crazy about the sound without the resonator. It was too harsh in my setup.

Got rid of the hood ornament...
Went with the Flat Emblem. So much cleaner looking. I felt the hood ornament made the car look 'old' https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...c0e4ba9616.jpg |
Will have a cold start video soon. . .
In the meantime, I had ordered some Lamin-X for the headlights. 6% (lightest tint) Just came in yesterday... box was waiting for me when I got home. Not sure if I like it with or without. Have to see it in the daylight. BEFORE https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...4a53fc37fe.jpg AFTER https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...b6e4670744.jpg |
