Ok I've used the search button but every different thing I try is not working. Maybe I'm just overthinking this sunroof issue!

The issue I have is my express open (sunroof slides all the way back) works great. But when I try to use the express close the roof only goes to ~ 50% close and stays there. If I hold the express close past the 50% mark (say 80 or 90%) and let go the roof will go back to the 50% mark.

I have tried:

1) Tilting it open, and when fully open wait 5 seconds.
2) Then Pulling down (Tilt close) and holding for 5 seconds.
3) Then express sliding it back (open), and when fully open, hold for 5 seconds.
4) Then express close forward, and when closed hold for 5 seconds.

What in the hell am I doing wrong? All the windows will close if I use the Recirc button during driving but the roof (if slid fully open) will make an attempt to close but then open back up. So I'm assuming it's not fully sync'd

Easiest way to sync the windows/roof is to stand outside the car, point the key at the drivers handle and hold unlock down until all of the windows/sunroof fully opens, then hold lock until everything is fully closed.

Also, lube the sunroof tracks with a suitable grease. Mb makes a special grease for sunroofs and pano roofs.

Did you google resetting pano roof. When I did the it it was In an order where the roof didn't move in the process

This is most likely your problem. If the sunroof motor detects excessive resistance it will reverse.

I have this issue with my non-pano. Express will not work, I have to hold the button manually. I need to grease it before the gears eat themselves. It's pretty slow and sounds bad
