I have the factory iPod integration. Works great when it wants to, hardly works most of the time (iPod battery issues).
I have a question, why does the car not charge the iPod when it's not running? It seems the only time the iPod gets charged is when you are actually playing it. If you listen to the radio for a few days to a week, iPod goes dead. I'll have to take it out, charge at home then restart the charade all over again. It's like I gotta commit to always eating the apple or nothing at all.

Can someone tell me something is wrong so I try fixing it. If not I'll get rid of the damn thing and go with the the aux input with my trusty Samsung Galaxy.

which iPod are you using?

You need one of these. The iPod integration kits suck. No idea why they designed it the way they did. There are probably cheaper versions of this out there.

I was using the iPod Touch Gen 4 if I remember the generation right

I have the Aux input pre-installed on the car, does not work cos from what I see t takes the place of the iPod kit behind the Command unit

I will check that out!
