A little help looking for tubes.......

So I ordered carbonio intake tubes and sent them back right after I opened the box. The inside of the tubes look like the inside of a crack heads nose. And the carbon fiber seam was at the every top so everyone can see it.

So I'm looking for just plastic tubes in that shape or a better set of carbon fiber tubes.

I have looked and haven't been able to find anything. And I wanted to know if they are out there before I have them farmed out and made.

Vrus intake tubes look fantastic, seamless and smooth... no idea if they are still in business or not. They are one of many presents the original owner left for me when I got the car.

Nobody makes them. Yes please have custom plastic tubes made. You could sell them for cheap and still make a good profit.

I'd love to see a cheap plastic molded version of the Renntech style upper airbox lid. But that's just wishful dreaming.

A brief google send me back to this forum with 2 posts from 2007 on the 2nd hand market. Not a good sign that Vrus is a going concern :/

I'm going to wait a week and see if anyone comes in with anything before I have them made.

And don't buy that junk, thats just 3 inch 135 bends for exhaust. you can go to any exhaust shop and have those made for 30 dollars and 15 dollars in clamps and hose fittings.

Carbonio are known for quality carbon parts - the ones that don't yellow

http://www.carbonio.com/performance/...g55_inlet.html

Where were the carbon tubes you bought from?

OP already stated he got the Carbonio ones and didn't like them. I got mine from Chris back when he made about 15-20 sets.

Official reply from Carbonio

Our sales team has brought this issue and thread to my attention and, as the managing director for Carbonio, I feel that certain clarifications are necessary:

First and foremost our very FIRST notice that this customer had an issue is when we received a notice from PayPal that his charge was being disputed. NO email, NO phone call, NO correspondence of any kind requesting a resolution came from the customer he merely cancelled his charge with PayPal and left us in the dark about it. This is an action that is normally reserved when other methods of communication have failed.

Second. The moment we got notice from PayPal we checked our records and immediately reached out by telephone to the customer to try and learn what was wrong The result was a non operating number.

After this we reached out via email where a reply was finally forthcoming. I just had the rather unpleasant opportunity to read the chain of emails and I will first applaud our sales team for remaining professional and polite in the face of cursing and accusations that were 100% unfounded and unwarranted.

In order to be totally transparent we IMMEDIATELY offered the customer a refund and waived any re-stocking fee. We NEVER told him he would not receive a refund. All we ever asked for is a tracking number (twice with no response) and told the customer that he would receive a refund as soon as we received the parts in return. I challenge him to produce some form of proof that we told you otherwise. As it stands we are waiting for his return in order to issue a refund.

Lastly I would like to thank our loyal customers and those who chimed in to defend our product. We have been around for a long time and have been lucky enough to work with as many as 19 OEM's on some of their specialized carbon projects. The OEM's are pretty demanding on quality and we extend that level on all of the parts we offer. As a bit of a history lesson we always made the tubes for vrus and when he went out of business we were given clearance to continue their production. Our tubes and the ones from vrus were one in the same and they have been very successful and popular with the E55 AMG community.

I hope this clarifies some of the misrepresentations made in this thread. I urge anyone to requiring more information to contact me privately via PM and would like to offer any potential customers an MBWorld discount code again available to forum members via PM.

Not good form to 'dis' a sponsor, should have been a private road to a resolution, not a thread.

Wasn't bashing a sponsor. I asked a question and it turned into this. Also posted the tracking number on paypal. Still haven't got my money back.

I would urge you to read the email that was sent many hours before this post on MBWorld was made. In case you missed it here it is:

Sam,

Mark is out of the office today so I am contacting you to ensure there are no delays. The intake tubes you sent back were received this afternoon in good order with no signs that they have been used or installed so we are happy to offer you a full refund. As Mark indicated we will waive our usual restocking fee as well.

Unfortunately because you have already begun the PayPal dispute resolution process we do not have access to the money to issue you an immediate refund. Basically PayPal has the money in escrow until they figure out what to do. We will need to wait until PayPal contacts us or you to let them know that there is no dispute and that they can close the file and return your money.

We will co-operate immediately with any message or request we get from PayPal to confirm that the dispute has been resolved so that you get your funds ASAP.

Thanks for your business.

I'd love to give you your money back but PayPal won't let me until they finish their investigation. It appears as though the speed at which you will receive your refund is very much in PayPal's hands now.

.
