Climate Control Question on W211
can someone advise me on the climate control system on the e55, I am in Canada and in the winter I always keep it at 22 degrees celsius (hotter temperature), now on a hot sunny day do I have to manually move the temperature on the display to a cold temperature like 12 degrees celsius or am I just able to hit the "Auto" button and it will automatically adjust the temperature accordingly?
My understanding was that the auto button would just adjust the fan speed but not the actual temperature of the air blowing out....is this incorrect? the auto button will adjust the temperature and blow hot or cold air depending on the cabin temperature? Should I just be pressing the auto button and not fiddle with the celsius temperature controls?
thanks

As far as I know the auto button will keep the cabin at the temp. Of the setting its on. I have not messed with the climate controls too much on this car. I can say it has potential but I like the one in my expedition better. Seems like I really never have to touch it. I'm sure there is a way to save settings in your case. Check out the owners manual it should help you out

the Auto button for the passenger side really just controls where the air comes from for the passenger side... ie. Floor, Defrost, Vents.

If you have Auto enabled to heat up to 22° in the winter, it will not automatically adjust to cool down to 12° in the summer. It will only cool down to 22°.
P.S. Have you read up on this feature in the owner's manual?

While we're on the topic, what does the roller thingy with the blue line (in between the two center vents) do? I did read the manual but couldn't find any mention of its behavior.

but if i set it at 22 degrees celsius and always press the auto button are you telling me it will continue to blow hot even in the summer time or will it automatically turn on the a/c to give me cold air even though its still set to the hot temperature of 22 degrees celsius?
please note i read the manual and it doesnt explain the feature at all from what i read

Maybe this will make it clearer - the temperate control is NOT used to set the temperature of the air that car blows out at you. You use it to set the temperature that you want the interior of your car to be. On auto, the car will then do whatever is necessary (blow hot air or cold air as required) to maintain that interior temperature for the vehicle.
I have literally never changed the temperature control in my car since the day I drove it off the lot - set it to the temperature I like, click auto, forget about it.

Auto = It will select which part of the car the air volume will be distributed and the fan speed until the manually selected air temperature is achieve and then it will lower the fans and maintain the manually selected air temperature. The occupant must specify the air temperature for the the HVAC system to automatically adjust proper settings. It does not know if you are hot or cold...

Since you seem to be having a hard time grasping this, I'll give you an example...
If you have the temp set at 22°C, and the interior of the car heats up to 25°C (for example, not a hard-coded number in the programming), the system will cool the car back down to 22°C.
Conversely, if you have the temp set at 22°C, and the interior of the car cools down to 19°C (for example, not a hard-coded number in the programming), the system will warm the car back up to 22°C.
