2007 E63 AMG
Opinion needed
I have the opportunity to purchase a 2007 E63 AMG with 73,000 miles. Asking price is $16,000. KBB estimates it at about $18k for my area. Car has been maintained at the local dealership and has no issues and clean carfax. Service "c" is due in 30 days. I like the car, and seems like a good deal to me, but I have been warned by more than a few people that there can be costly electrical problems that tend to pop up and that 73000 is a LOT of miles for a luxury car like this. I like the car and the power it has, but don't need a money pit. What is the opinion of owners of these cars?

I have an 07 and I just ticked over 80k miles. 73k miles is not "a LOT" of miles. All luxury cars have their share of electrical problems but I haven't encountered any in the 2 years I've owned my e63. The main issue with the M156 is that the head bolts can break and cause catastrophic damage to the engine resulting in a costly repair. The other issues are common throughout the w211 platform like airmatics, conductor plate, etc.
$16K is extremely cheap for the car(depending on how the car is optioned). I say pick it up and get an aftermarket warranty for piece of mind and drive the snot out of it.

I went with USAA. I've used a lot of different warranty companies and USAA blows them out of the water. I paid $3800 for 2 years 24k miles. Zero deductible 
My car is at mercedes RIGHT NOW getting work done and my SA said that the work is going to cost in excess of $10k. Thank god for my warranty lol
