Would you buy a Car via an App?

Gents,

Need some help with research for a project.

Would any of you ever consider purchasing a car via an App that would save you a few bucks? This app would be tied to major dealer inventories and facilitate the whole "car buying experience". Just assume the above for now and in a perfect scenario. Thanks!

I know you said "...with assumptions", but it really depends on what I'm looking for and why. If it's for 'commodity' purchases perhaps. If for personal most likely not as I would prefer to use a large desktop monitor with a high resolution.

Why not?

I mean I've spent more buying random crap on Amazon while drunk than I did for my C-Class....

I might. I just bought a 2014 ML350 CPO via text with the salesman. The diff is I knew immediately with whom I was dealing, since I was on their website as well. I guess the app would have to offer me a lot that i couldn't do for myself. Since tradeins also play into the mix, how do you know you're saving anything if the trade value is nebulous until the moment of truth.....

unsolicited feedback (as i'm looking for a car now) - PLEASE make an option to where i can see an interior picture in the preview vs the exterior of the car. I'm looking for an IS250/350 with red interior and having to open every car to see what color interior it has is a pain in the ***.

I will not buy a car without driving it first. That's just me.

Would this be geared to car enthusiasts like most of the people on this forum or to regular folk. Most car enthusiasts would probably want to get their hands on a car and test drive it first. I know I do. Regular people might be more inclined to use an app. I recently drove a friend to buy a used car at a dealership. He had no idea what kind of car he wanted, had done no research, and didn't test drive or even start the engine of the car he ultimately purchased. Not once did he ask me my thoughts. After getting home he noticed some dents in the car that I easily noticed on the lot and he somehow overlooked..... This same guy years ago bought a brand new truck. He was trying to show me how the in dash CD changer worked and it turns out the "red" truck the salesman showed him had the changer and not the blue one he purchased. The "red" one also had AC and his didn't but who cares about silly things like that when you got the "blue" color you like so much.
