Probably a dumb question, but........
I really don't know the answer, so I'll just fall on my sword and ask. I have a 2006 E55, with the air spring system. Do these air springs double as shock absorbers as well, or does each corner of the car have both an air spring and a more traditional separate shock absorber beside it?

edit: put it this way for the OP. Whether it's a coil or a bag filled with air, these are your "springs". The front strut has shock and air spring as a complete unit, the rear has the shock and spring seperate but like I said they function in the same way as any other traditional set up.

i know I was clarifying how it works because based on the OPs wording in the first post he assumed the air spring does the damping which it does not. Either that or I'm misunderstanding his question.
