Stock M4 vs Stock E55. 60-130mph Who wins?

My buddies dad just picked up an M4 and we want to get together and do some highway pulls 60-130 mph is the standard so we will go with that.

Based on some searching. Ive seen the fastest stock M4 to run the same as the fastest stock E55 in the 1/4 and trap speed is spot on. I still give the nudge to the new technology M4. But, my E55 is a monster from 60-130 mph. Always has been. I feel that is the strongest powerband of the M113k.

Will get video of the race in the upcoming weeks. When we all have time for a day long cruise.

So, any guesses who will win? Anyone have experience against one yet?

I did 3 pulls with one this weekend from 45ish to 90ish. My stock E55 was faster, but not by much.

It was the 4 door though. Im not sure if they call that the M3 or what these days.

Yupp sedan, M3. 90mph is not that fast but, still good to know you were ahead. Thank you.

420WHP and 420 Torque for a stock M4. E55 make about the same Hp on a cool dyno run @ sea level but, more torque. Like what, 457 lbs of torque at the wheels. But, M3/M4 have shorter and more gears.

This should be interesting.

Over 60 u should pull alittle. But at lower speeds they are fast.

I have my doubts on the e55 pulling 60-130 on an m4. Be sure to bring your results here first

I predict the M4 will win reasonably comfortably. Keen to see the results

They're pretty fast ime. Stock for stock I think he will beat you pretty easily.

edit: i ran one up to 160 for fun. it was out of the blue though, i was teasing him to get him to take off and when he did i chased after. i would of loved to do a 3 honk race but you cant always get what you want lol. i reeled him back in but his car still had dealer plates, while i am stage 2 with meth. stock for stock, there is something to say for newer transmission and engine technology. to be fair, i dont know if it was a regular m4 or the gts that gets water injection from the factory.

After watching some YouTube races between the 2. The M4 is impressive

I tired to pull up to one and was scared, all he did was put his ear to listen to my car and that was it..He was hung back so far that he looked like a spec of dirt.

Great responses, 37 WTQ+ advantage from the E55 is substantial. But, who knows.

It may not seem relevant at first, but consider we're talking about a v8 vs v6, with similar HP output and favorable torque for the v8... -Good luck!

400lb weight difference + better transmission makes a lot of difference.

On a side note, the editing of that video sucks

Weight plays a bigger roll from a dig. When you are rolling it's not as significant.

It took BMW 3 generations of their M3's to catch up to the E55 luxury sedan.

To their credit, the M3 was never targeting the E55

I have yet a m car keep up to me not even the new m5.M cars are known to garbage tq and suck on roll runs. Now, after 100 mph rolls the story changes and i don't go past 140 .The e55 is a drag car and no matter how hard bmw trys they will never build a car like that.

Kinda... Torque is the force applied to the arm, or in this case the contact patch. As I'm sure you and everyone else knows.

So when it comes to a launch, weight definitely plays a role. However in the bench race of this thread (until it occurs, of course) and the video I shared (the editing of which, I was not responsible for) the Merc has more weight, and more torque. If you watch, the MB takes the initial jump almost every time.

As it relates to the discussion, the M4 is lighter, powered by a 6-cylinder DI+FI engine and has a wealth of gears on tap. While its horsepower is nearly the same, the torque falls short.

I'd expect the OPs race to end in a similar fashion.

I've had a rolling run against a stock M4 - from 40kph to 180kph. The M4 stayed with me - in fact had its nose in front - till about 120kph. At about 120kph I started edging ahead and finished up 2 to 3 car lengths ahead at 180kph. I have a 520whp E55 and was surprised at how strong the M4 was. Based on my experience, I think the M4 will win reasonably comfortably against a stock E55. Good luck

I saw an M coupe at the track with intake, a fancy exhaust, tune, and drag radials that ran 11.30s. I can't remember the mph though. They are fast cars for sure, but the torque the E55 makes is hard to beat.

My 55 is stock and I have only lost to a Mclaren 650 and a ZL1 Camaro. (freeway roll racing) The camaro pulled me by 3/4 of a car to about 120 mph. I was happy how well my car did.

Never ran an M4 but ran an M3 and beat him by at least 5 cars from 55 to 120 or so. I'm highly modded tho. He had a tune and exhaust and was really surprised at how bad I beat him. Ruined his day, I could tell.. Good luck and do the ECU reset before you race..

Something has gotta be wrong with your car or he has tune, race gas or methanol, and downpipes. 520whp is a lot of power, and your torque must be insane. There is no way you ran against a stock M4.
