Power upgrade ?
Looking for an addition ~30rwhp upgrade. I'm looking into 82mm TB or changing my pulley from 77mm to 70mm. Both of this will achieve my goal.
The question now is which of this mods will be cost effective, and less problematic, and why? List of current mods is in my sig. |

Going off your sig. 550cc injectors would be my next move.

TB kit
|
70mm from 77 will be much more than 30rwhp.
Throttlebody is our personal favorite mod. 35whp and great throttle response. we have both 82 and 85mm kits available, with and without a pre ported snout. Our throttlebody kits are currently onsale and you can see all of the options ->Here<- I would consider injectors before adding another power mod also. |
You can buy a OEM 82mm TB and mill out the mounting holes to mate it to a 74mm inlet and port match it.
Here are some pics. This was done by another member. Message me if you want a new TB http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/923/4LfdEe.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/924/vpdQrS.jpg |
This $100 plate will serve the same purpose, without potentially ruining the throttlebody, or creating sealing issues
This Kit includes the Plate and Throttlebody, You will only need to port your own snout And finally this kit includes everything, pre ported snout aswell, so that your kit is bolton, no porting required. All of our throttlebodies come with a warranty aswell. Happy modding! |
You cant potentially ruin a USED TB by milling the mounting holes. Way cheaper since used 82mm TB units sell for $150 on ebay and 20 mins with a dremel tool and you can port your OEM 74mm snout.
It is also worth mentioning the TB will be oriented the same way and not clocked at the different position when you use the "BOLT ON" flange. Air boxes will secure in the same location because of the absence of the adapter flange moving everything back. |
Rotation of the Throttlebody does not effect performance
Airboxes still fit perfectly with the less than 1/4" adapter in place The adapter can act as a stencil for you to port your snout, https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...d1683bf08f.jpg The most effective way, other than CnC porting (thats what we do) Is to use a flap wheel sander and a drill. If you dont feel comfortable with porting it yourself we do offer the Porting service independent of the parts we sell. |
I offered a solution with OEM fitment and at lower price point.

+1 for more fuel then upgrade your Throttle Body unless your tuner agrees it is safe to add more air only If you go 550cc's DO NOT get them from ebay unless you want to swap them 3 times, I just had a bad experience with a set from there that's my $0.02 |

Hey Tony.
What about the good ole "hiccup" complaint's many people have? No issue's ? You hear reports about that issue all over the place, forums, Facebook groups, etc. Many of the newer users dont even know about that well known issue - they just say it like "Sometimes on part throttle my car goes suddennly very lean, but a key cycle will solve it"... lol :smash: |

Maybe if/when Eurocharged puts out the E85 Flexfuel kit it would make more sense to go the 70mm upper sc pulley route.
