EDIT: Editing the first post to include a link to the playlist for episodes so it's easier to keep track of.
EDIT2: Right, this is MBWorld, nevermind...

Front struts are in.
Anyone need a backup set of OE units? What do these go for used? I need to find how many miles are on these, i will dig through the dealer papers.

Front suspension went in and I started on the rear.
Got stuck because I had to order various star and XZN bits on Amazon. Have the sway bar link disconnected, rear shocks are out, most of the bolts securing the rear bottom control arm are also out.
Also started exploring the interior and already broke the keyless-go button That shifter is NOT twist off! Get under it, do a quarter turn of the black piece under the leather and then pull the shifter straight up if you want that button to ever work again.
Huge disappointed with the headunit, no auxiliary input connector. The hell do I do now? Where is the amp on this car, I would possibly entertain the idea of getting a high quality aftermarket unit and ruinning the wires to the amp, bypassing the amp and using the existing speaker wiring.

And this is why I love forums, I will be able to create a silent CD and solder inputs directly onto the headunit's PCB.

No, I'm not.
I guess I have a completely different headunit. BE 6069, the PCB looks nothing like the one in the pictures and I do not have the port in the back for AUX-in.

New plan:
Remove the factory headunit and amplifier completely. Install an aftermarket double DIN unit and run output cable all the way to factory amplifier location. Then replace factory amplifier with an aftermarket unit and use the factory speaker wires.
Put inline crossovers for the tweeters in? Or does the split/crossover happen post amp harness. I guess we will find out. I will probably use my house stereo amp to test speaker wiring harness.
Based on some research, we're working with 8ohm speakers. Meaning we will run in parallel to reduce impedance. 4 speakers circuits x 4 ohms each. The front center channel will be lost.

Suspension is in! Leaving wheelwells and trunk exposed for a while to make sure everything is kosher before it button everything back up fully.
The rear spring perches seem impossible to adjust without taking everything apart again, not sure how y'all do it.

there should be an AUX port inside the glove box ,,, but i dont blame you if your going to replace the head unit with something more current... keep the pics coming -- looks good

Then I took the unit out to see if it has connections in the back, it doesn't.
Then I researched to see if I can solder it in, I can't.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Mine is closer to factory ride-height (in lowered mode) and the spanner just cleared the weld seam.

Amp is in an aweful spot these horrible instructions show the location
I have a pinout somewhere with speaker connections
I went with a $300 chinese android knock off and its pretty classy and quick with a 128GB SD card for tunes. I flashed an updated ROM
CAN connections to steering wheel buttons are pre-set and function. You can pair your phone with bluetooth and make calls etc
Pretty sweet for $300 and I am an audiophile. Its a droid so I have torque hooked up and it displays gauges for IAT/RPM/Boost which is nice also and makes logging pretty easy as well and pairs nice data sets to go with Zeitronix =D
I threw in all my old gear from another build
JL 300/4
JL 500/1
JL 12w6 v2 in trunk
Droid HU

I would love to know what's involved in making a CAN bus sniffing "starter kit". I'm a software developer by day and a wannabe mechanic at night, so this would be a fun project for me, I just don't know what hardware and software are needed to get started.
Any suggestions? Will that be in the video?
Looking forward to the next episode!

They're out of stock at the moment, but I messaged them about availability on Twitter. Wiring it in is super simple: CANBUS from the Parktronic connector, 12VDC and Ground from the cigarette plug. The unit lives in the center console.

Nothing at all, it's so dead simple these days. Just order a CANBUS Triple: https://canb.us/
