Picked up my E55 today!

I was contemplating moving to a 4 door from the CLK. Was looking at the biturbo E550 but the only one in my price range sold. Test drove a 2010 E63 but there was a huge lack of low down torque even compared to my CLK55 which I couldn't do without, even the awesome exhaust noise couldn't make up for this. I had given up on E55's a while ago as I thought they must all be thrashed by now. Then I saw this pristine example with 21,000 miles. Merlot red leather inserts.

The power is amazing. I will probably get a PLM heat exchanger at some point. And a better pump- does anyone do a complete kit for the Meziere 136? or is the bosch 010 enough? I might hit up eurocharged for a tune, I just had them do the CLK55 right before I now sell it

I can't see myself needing a pulley or headers for a long time. Who are the best vendors these days? Eurocharged and shardul. BIP seem to be out of the game?

Maintenance wise I have no idea what to do at this mileage. It just had a oil change. Transmission and diff oil might be a good idea soon, same with brake fluid but the dealer can do that, the CLK was easy but I don't feel like getting my fingers crushed by the SBC. I am guessing plugs are wires would be a waste of money right now but some new air filters are a go.

21,000 miles...wow! Congrats on the new ride.

As low as the miles are, I'd replace some parts/fluids based on age. Transmission and diff oil for sure, brake fluid flush for sure, you could even consider doing a coolant flush just to be safe. I'd also replace belts and any other failure prone rubber or plastic parts.

Fantastic. The CLK are very nice cars but the E is a whole new level of quality. I do prefer my stock CLK55 wheels though, they look a bit more aggressive but I am sure I can find some nice replacements one day. Just need to get new centre caps in the meantime, 2 black, 1 silver and 1 seems to be a mixture.

Thanks for the advice. The PPI said the belts look in good condition. Any particular things you would replace? I see there are 5 pulley aluminium replacement kits. I will do a coolant flush with the heat exchanger when the time comes.

Thanks, I will do in a couple of months. As soon as the CLK is sold.

Sounds like the best option. I came across some posts where IAT's increased with the Meziere for whatever reason.

Are there any downsides to the 82mm throttle body upgrade? It seems to give a very decent increase in power/torque.

Congrat ! 21K miles is the lowest in the market now !
Just basic maintenance should be fine, it's still very low mileage.
Engine oil, tranny fluid change, spark plugs, brake fluid flush. When you upgrade the IC pump you can flush with new coolant.

My driveability has suffered a little since i did the 82mm upgrade (I have the "hiccup"). I would advise against it unless you are looking for every last bit of power, ET, or MPH. If I didn't drag race my car so often I would probably go back to the stock TB.

Personally, I think the sweet spot for these cars is a set of Long Tube headers, a pulley, a tune, H/X and call it good.

Thanks, I still haven't checked it has oem coolant. My clk55 arrived with bright green coolant.

I saw most of the problems were with 90mm but I will take the advice, I have done a few mods in the past and regretted the driveability compromise.

First E55 issue, fuel smell outside the car after sitting for 3 days in the garage, hopefully it is coming from the o ring near fuel rail which I believe can be a problem. I smelt the back seats very carefully before buying the car, no smell inside the car.

Had a better look around the engine bay after work. Definitely blue OEM coolant. I might just drain whatever comes out of the radiator and replace the volume. I am not keen on undoing the engine block drain bolt.

In my PPI it said there was sweating at the bottom of the trans and block ie rear main seal. Tonight I see there is some dark grey fluid staining on top of the trans too (not wet now). I noticed the transmission fill plug was there but the locking tab is missing so maybe someone has changed fluid and spilt it....
