Power steering pump dying - DIY?
Does it matter which one I purchase? reman or new?
Going to tackle the job myself, doesn't look too bad...
Looking at the pump & new reservoir - is there a filter in the reservoir?
Will 2L of pentosin be enough?

I would go reman, but thats cause I dont like spending piles of money... most have a pretty good warranty. Thats just me though
With that said, nothing performs as well as a new OEM part IMHO
I honestly don't think it has a filter, pretty sure there is just a screen in the reservoir if I remember correctly
You are probable close with 2L, I would rather have a 3rd L just in case... rather safe than sorry
Bleeding process:

*you are going to need another person to crank up your car as you dump in the last 1/5L to refill the reservoir post bleeding and avoid the pump sucking in air into the lines*

I went with a reman...
It isn't hard... but it can be tedious. the bolts are all blind (you can't see, only feel) . they are E-torx, if you have ratcheting 12-point box wrenches it will probably be easier. I couldn't fit a 1/4 or 3/8" wrachet with e-torx socket into the area. I used normal 12 point box end, and I could only get between 1/4 and 1/2 turns. that felt like it took forever.

Thanks Boosted
I've done it on another car & it was tedious for sure, same deal with minimal room.
I have been looking at a new Cardone via Rock Auto $300 CAD or for $650 CAD I can get a OEM MB one.

Do I need to replace the high pressure power steering line gaskets?
I assume the pulley on the old pump will need to be pressed off & then pressed onto new one?
Job any easier removing the oil filter housing? I have not had a good look but I know its in the area.

Got the pump off relatively easily. Have to transfer the pulley over. I tried a harmonic balancer pulley removal tool but the bolts and washers I'm using to pull off the pulley seem to be bending (washers)
I am worried about damaging the pulley any thoughts?

Right at the end of this procedure and for the life of me can't get the reservoir to slide on so the c clip can hook in. It's a new reservoir and 1 rubber o ring that I install onto the ps pump shaft first. Am I missing something?

That's all I got left to try, also for the high pressure line I have read it's just 2 copper gaskets but also read in one DIY that there is a small o-ring too? In my power steering pump box I got 2 copper gaskets, a gasket for pump to reservoir and another small rubber o-ring.
