Any dyno or track times with a 74mm pulley
I'm debating on what SC pulley to get this summer. I already have EC mid length headrs, split cooling with the Johnson pump and an EC tune.
Was thinking of a huge HE, 77mm or 74mm pulley, belt wrap kit, 82mm TB, Tc tune and maybe just some drop in K&N filters. I saw that DTK has a sale on thier dtk650 kit, so their 650bhp kit. They claim these numbers with a 74mm clutched pulley, 82mm tb, trans and ecu tune, bwk, and a big HE with no trunk tank. Has anyone dyno'd their 74mm pulley? With 20% drivetrain Id imagine about 520whp. Alex |
That's pretty close to my setup, but I have a 77mm pulley and my tune is by RaceIQ. I figure I'm making around 625hp at the crank, based on the calculator here: http://www.wallaceracing.com/et-hp-mph.php
I don't know how much more boost the 74mm gives, but ~25hp seems reasonable. With that setup on drag radials you could probably run something like 11.10 @ 123 in the quarter, assuming a density altitude of 0 ft. |
Stay away from dtk. Do some research here as some were not happy and having things break is not worth it
With a 74mm you will need serious cooling |
Ok good to know. On facebook they seem to have good feedback. I like how big their HE is and pricing is awesome. That dtk650 kit I listed is $1999.

Good luck

DTK had some bad feedback initially, but he has pretty good customer service and warrants his work. Check out either of the AMG E55 pages and you'll be able to see that.
74 is a pretty small pulley and you'd want to have your cooling sorted. If you had low ambients already and just the occasional pull you would likely be okay. A set of 550s wouldn't hurt either |
What's the point of a warranty if the stuff breaks often
Many end up trying to sell his stuff to buy from ec or shardul |

This is my 77 fsp plus a few other upgrades. Tony's Dyno Tune. |
Are your kleeman headers long tubes?
|
Kleeman doesn't make long tubes
|
Ok good to know. Those are great numbers. I have mid length EC headers and dont really want to switch them out if i have hit about 525ish whp.

I have a 77mm clutched pulley and everything else you're talking about having except from the throttle body upgrade and I am still getting a little bit of heat soak (minimal) after a few hard pulls. Unless you're getting a trunk/engine bay tank or meth I would not recommend going smaller. Especially if the bigger throttle body adds more heat? I'm not sure on that one. Also I hear that the equivalent crank pulley (180mm for 77mm) gives more torque than supercharger pulley so you may want to think about that option. |
I definitely plan on water/meth injection too
|
If you're going meth/water I think IAT's won't be a problem for you. Have you seen VRPspeed's 70mm clutched pulley? Clutched is good if your getting a bigger TB so you can avoid the dreaded TB hiccup which sounds like a nightmare from what I've read.
|
I have seen that. I don't know if I want to go that crazy. Id imagine the blower is pretty maxed out with that .
|
Clutched pulleys can get the hiccup also
Some cars can have a bigger tb and others can't Nothing to do with the pulley |

EC and Kleemann headers are basically the same. I don't think its economical to use long tubes unless you've already got all the other go fast mods as they're very expensive for little gain over mid-lengths like you already have.

Long tubes vs mids are night and day ,whom ever told this is not telling you the Turth or is clueless
I agree Longtubes are better then mid-length headers. |
"Night and day" difference between mids and LTs is subjective at best. All else equal, you're looking at between a 20-35whp difference. To me, that's not night and day. That's marginal for the investment. Mids are $5-600....good LTs are $2600+ (MBH, ARH). I'd love to have a set of those LTs but I couldn't justify the additional $2000+ for 30hp and I wasn't putting OBX/Maximizer/PB5 on this car.

Ya I cant believe the cost difference between long and mids. My car came with the ec mids so ya Im going to spend the 2k on pulley, bwk, cooling, etc. Maybe just maybe if I see a good deal one day Ill jump on it.

Thanks I may take you up on that. Not ready at the moment but definitely later this summer.
|
Sound good when you are ready just email with a screen shot of my post.

Ok will do.
Btw how big is the heat exchanger? Any mods to get it in there? |
