I want to carry a spare in my '03 dammit

I have gone though enough tires to really want to have a space saver spare in the trunk. But Mercedes did not see fit to allow that to happen til 05 or 06. I've finally found an 06 e350 at a yard nearby. I intend to grab the spare and toolkit, and the plastic undertray that it and the battery sits in, and probably the cables since mine are gonna be too short once the battery is relocated.. Trouble is I don't know what I'm up against, getting that tray out. Is it just bolted or is it glued in? Has anyone else here updated their '03 trunk so they too can carry a spare in the spare well?

As far as I know my 04 came with a space saver spare. Had to use it on Sunday and thankful that it was there!

Fellow 04 owner here. I have a compressor and a can of good luck. No spare.

Well I guess I am gonna go up to the salvage yard and try to update my trunk to '06 spec. I will do a writeup if it all works out.

05 and the already mentioned can of good luck. Does the 350 have exhaust clearance?

Off topic can you get new cans of the tire sealing goo?

It is possible to do the update. I had my '04 updated to have the spare tire fitted.

Good news. How is that undertray installed? Is it nice easy bolts or is it glued in?

I believe it is glued in. I'll try and take a look tonight.
