82mm throttle body worth it

2003 Mercedes E55 AMG
Ive had mine on for few weeks now daily drive it an more than 1000 miles an having no problems. But i made sure i used all new gaskets an did all my torque procedures properly as well as used a good gasket adhesive such as the copper spray.

This all boils down to leaks, and yes, with properly CNC's snout, you're significantly less likely to have leaks, but if you seal an adapter plate properly, you will get the same results.

2014 E63S AMG w/CCB's
No issues with mine, milled the snout myself, used gasket and black rtv on both sides of the gasket to mount the TB to the adapter plate, used black rtv between the snout and the adapter plate. Also put a new bypass gasket in and a new snout to SC gasket. Installed the snout to sC gasket dry, and the bypass TB I put some assembly lube on to reduce chances of it getting stuck on anything.

UPDATE ON 80MM TB
Sorry it took me so long to try this but I finally gave it a try today and it worked perfectly, no hiccup, no CEL. I did not mess with any settings in STAR either. I used an 80mm TB from a cl600 V12 naturally aspirated I picked up on eBay for $100. I made my own adapter plate and it all bolted up fine. One thing to note is that this throttle body opens in the opposite direction so you have to swap a few pins. I just cut and spliced the wires on the throttle body wiring harness.
Swap pins 1 and 4, and then swap 5 and 6.
After the pin swap everything worked like a charm! I will post this in the other threads about the 82 as well for anyone whos having issues with the 82. If I had to do it all over again I would skip the 82 and settle with the 80.

Do you have a part number? Seeing a few different ones, but not a lot of details in their descriptions.
I have an 82mm ready to go on, but if it becomes a nightmare, I'll consider the 80mm option.

Bit of a slow reply - 2004 model, Jan 05 built.
77mm clutched pulley, 550 injectors, DTK TCU, 82TB, EC mids, res delete, meth, split cooling, trunk tank, PLM hx, but none of those really effect the TB and drivability.
Tune by Tony at RaceIQ. Stock idle. Have considered bumping it up slightly. No idling, low throttle, full throttle problems. Drives as per stock.
