KEY FOB WON'T START '07 E350

2007 Mercedes E350 key fob blinks red when I put it in the ignition and it won't turn to start the engine. It's as if it's locked. It will open doors and trunk and the radio/dash stuff turns on but won't start the vehicle. I replaced batteries to no avail. Is there a reset of any kind or something I can do absent towing the vehicle many miles away to a dealership?

No spare key? Key won’t turn at all, or won’t turn far enough to engage starter? Be sure you are in Park. Hope others more informed chime in soon.

Either bad EIS or bad key. Usually the next step is to try the 2nd key. Lots of times dealers make you buy the second key and when that doesn't work, then they fix the EIS. That can be pretty expensive at the dealer. You can also send out the EIS to have it rebuilt. About $200 on eBay maybe cheaper elsewhere.

Also make sure your car battery is fully charged.

Damage of this sort usually happens to key after hard drop on floor, or after removing the PCB fro inside and sliding back in when not lined up quite right.

Unlocking and starting car on 2 different circuits, quite common to have one party fail and not other.
