The answer is "It depends upon the application". A 5-pin relay has a Normally-Closed in addition to a Normally-Open connection. The Normally-Open connections are always on pin 87. So, techically it is the wrong relay but it might work; depends upon if the circuit needs to "see" a normally-closed connection.

Looking at the schematic for an '05 E55, the K67 relay only uses 4-pins. Pin 87 is used to power the compressor, pin 87a shows as a no-connect. Power comes from a 40-amp fuse, location F74.

Power and ground for the solenoid in the relay come from pins 16 and 39 of the Airmatic module. I don't know which is power and which is the open-collector ground.

Hope this helps.

The green relay I pulled is a 5 prong but as far as I can tell the replacement relay ends with 1319 which equals the 9101 I have purchased but only a 4 pin. Grrr not sure what to do here or if the 4 vs 5 pin matters...

If you look inside relay holder at back of front fuse box, you will see there are not any pins for the unused contact for the 5 pin relay. The four pin is correct.
