Have any of you replaced your HID bulbs
Hey guys...have any of you replaced your HID bulbs lately? What was the before and after difference? I feel my light output is 60% of what it should be and think it a good idea to replace my bulbs.

You’ll need D2S hid bulbs. We offer top end Morimoto D2S replacement bulbs if interested. Retail price $50 for a set. Offered in 5500k pure white and 6500k white with a slight bluish hue:

It made a huge difference. I didn't realize how much my bulbs had degraded over time, but they really had. It's not a hard job, but there are no short cuts that are worthwhile. Pull the front housings off and undo the mounting bolts for the light cases. There are several good DIY's on this forum and on Pelican parts site. As a comparison, I bought my set on Amazon for around $85 delivered. Good luck!

Did you have to disconnect the battery? If so, radio code and other reset procedures are required? Want to change bulbs but disconnecting battery seems harder than it needs to be.

I did disconnect only the trunk battery, which takes only a minute or two, since I generally keep my trunk empty. I didn't have to reset anything, so maybe the small aux battery keeps those settings (I'm not sure honestly). There were no issues with the power to the lights, but I was careful as anything handling connections, ballasts, etc.

Additionally, if you plug in th bulb and it doesn’t fire up, try power cycling the vehicle to reset the front SAM.

I just replaced mine last month as they were starting to yellow and dim. I purchased D2S bulbs as advised on this forum, only to find that the 2007 E63 uses D1S bulbs (there is tremendous confusion, as the service manual says D2S...warning for anyone offering advice without knowing for certain). I was able to sell the D2S bulbs at a loss of $100.
I bought Osram Nightbreakers, and they are very noticeably brighter.

Also, by power cycling do you mean disconnect the battery and then reconnect it again?
Thanks, in advance!

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm scouring around trying to find a solution to my passenger side bulb replacement not resolving the problem, after it went dead. I'm thinking about next steps of possibly replacing the ballast or igniter (are they different parts?) or should I power cycle, as you mentioned here?

You're right! I'm not sure why they even provided that worthless owners manual! LOL!
If I remember correctly the listed bulbs for the lower fog lights are incorrect also.

I ended up going with Osram CBI's... Much better than what I had but kind of wished I went with Osram CBB. Lumens increase per a review I saw with the higher kelvin bulbs for Osram. Generally from what I recall, when you up the kelvin rating, lumen output falls. Also, the Osram CBB although blue upon warm up turn bright bright white. The CBI's look like daylight (in the W211 E63 headlight housing) whereas the CBB look like white light. Still want to see if I could reaim my headlights a 2 degree's higher. I'll have to see if those adjustment screws do anything. I read that for Bi-xenon housings the adjustments do nothing. Does anybody know for sure?

I know that I need to replace my HID bulbs, as they do not produce enough visible light by themselves. I always have to turn on the fog lights, to get the desired light output. And on those long dark roads, have to resort to high beams.
