Camber bolt with TRW thrust arm question
I just replaced the front passenger thrust arm / strut arm (it had a torn rubber seal on the ball joint) with a TRW arm. Overall the arm quality is fine, but the grooves inside the slotted end (that connects to the body) do not fit well with the slotted camber bolt. I ended up just sliding the bolt in between the 4 channels and hopped it will stay there. But, when in reverse, with the wheel turned, Ithe car clunks from that area. I’m pretty sure it’s this bolt clunking past the channel grooves. Has anyone else used the TRW arms? What camber bolt did you use? I feel a solid bolt will work (non-slotted), and stay put inside the center channel. Does anyone use non-slotted bolts? thanks! |
I installed the same arms but used the original bolt, which was not slotted, and installed it in the middle slot. You might want to try to either use a non slotted bolt or index your bolt with the slot horizontally and then only tighten the nut so the bolt doesn't move.

Thanks. I didn't realize the stock bolts were not slotted. So you know the PN for them? In searching around I've only found slotted bolts.

At least my bolts that I took out weren't slotted. I don't know if it came this way from the factory. They look the same as the slotted except w/o the slot. Sorry, but I don't have the part number for the non slotted bolt.

If it's properly tight it can't move. You're problem is something else. The upper ball joint is very easy to replace. The bottom one is more involved.

I replaced my thrust arms with Lemforder arms and the driver side was slotted while the passenger side was not. I am now looking to purchase a slotted bolt.

I didn't notice the difference when I replaced mine, but the part numbers match what I received from FCP Euro. Thanks!
edit: hold that thought, their website pictures show the old style bushing. Probably why I didn't notice the difference.. :nix: |
