Now all of you told me to keep a couple grand to the side, now this is when that money would come in handy.
I had the biggest double whammy I could ever have.
im driving around going shopping at night, the car started smelling like gas inside, I didn’t care much. Then as I start driving more with my windows down like they always are, it gets stronger and stronger. When I mean strong, I mean like a damn pool inside my car strong. It smells like I own a freaking gas station. I come out my car to get something from Walmart, the moment I get out I almost fall and eat sheet. I start driving off and open all my windows at red light cause I’m literally dying, I take off from light and start accelerating and all I see is my headliner blocking my whole rear view.
so not only do I need a new IC PUMP, headliner repair, Gas leak or something.
any suggestions or experience and how you went about handling the headliner and gas smell?
(I do troll a lot on this thread, like crazy lot. I have decided to stop as I see most of you are literally getting mad and don’t notice my trolling lol. So I will not troll any more and keep it clean.

No idea about the gas smell. Seems like I've read a few threads about gas puddling on the top of the pumps for the E55.
For the headliner, take it to a reputable upholstery shop and let them re-glue it. Shouldn't be too expensive.

First of all sorry to hear you are having trouble. Not everyone likes some of your comments or attitude but no one is angry, now you know why everyone advised saving a few grand for repairs. Pull up the back seats (literally two clips at the front), take off the access covers and check the top of your fuel pump and sender units. If the gas is that strong, also thoroughly check the engine bay and under the car for leaks. As you are probably aware there is an extended warranty on the tank and pumps if this is where it is coming from. Headliner can be glued back, I am sure someone has a DIY on the forum, have a search, use the non-AMG forums as well as this can happen in any of the sedans. Intercooler pump is $120 from fcpeuro and 2 hours work, check my link in my signature.
This is my car for reference, one leaking, the other fine.

I’ll be calling mb today but I want to know why didn’t they make all owners come to them? I’m reading the lawsuit and it says side effects from breathing are dizziness and headaches. I was crazy dizzy yesterday night but the headache was horrible when I woke up.
Crazy this is still a problem. The original recall was in 2008 wouldn’t that me 15 years after 2008?

If your gas tank hasn't been done I think they should still have to cover it.
I think it's just the pump assembly that needs replacing really, it's one of the main sticky threads on this forum, read through it, get in touch with your nearest dealership.
If you don't have AAA make sure you buy a membership.
Next time something like this happens please just pull over and get the car towed. It has happened that people pass out from petrol fumes, you could easily die on the road.

Not a recall. They did an extended warranty to avoid the lawsuit and a recall. Smart move financially, until someones car explodes. Don't know if the warranty is from the manufacture date or purchase date. There is a whole sticky thread about this. You will find Info about your headliner too if you look.

Be sure they install the adapter cable also. There are at least two instances on this board where the tank or pumps were replaced and the mechanic failed to install the adapter cable to properly power the pumps. See here:

As others mentioned, it's an extended warranty not a recall so they only fix it if you have the problem. It's a 15 year extended warranty from the in service date of the car. Not 15 years from 2008. Also not sure where you saw 2008, the extended warranty just kicked in a few years ago. A carfax would probably have the in service date of the vehicle, but the MB dealer should know.

The fuel tank problem is a separate extended warranty that applied to all 2003-2009 W211, but excluding Pzev cars. I don't think they had Pzev in 2003. Many people mistakenly refer to the extended warranty as a recall, but it's not, it's completely different. The extended warranty was cheaper for MB because they only have to fix the ones that are affected. A recall would mean they'd have to replace everyone's tank which would have cost more money.

Recalls are specific to a year and a particular vehicle. Most recalls don't expire, but some do. The MB dealer can tell if you're affected by a recall or not by looking up the vin. You can see if you car is affected by a recall by looking here:

extended warranty
TO all those who have smell coming from their vehicle, the extended warranty is 15 years after vehicle production date.
i was told for my e55 amg it is over on November 10th,2018 after calling MB USA.
i have an appointment scheduled tomorrow at 11am

They only have email contact and never replied. I emailed my service manager last Friday but public holiday means I probably won't hear until sometime this week. I didn't notice the smell after my last fill up and it was only ever in the garage, not the car. If they don't come through, I will just replace the pumps, fcpeuro can help with that.

Damn I gotta take mine in for an alignment soon anyway so I'll get em to check it.
Yo good idea to look into what Barry posted, get a prinout of his link so that you make sure they install that **** the right way, it's happened to multiple people that they used the wrong wiring.
You should be in good hands, sorry about your interior damage didn't think that kinda stuff could happen. Maybe that explains why mine sags in the back a bit,.
Btw a thread is the same as a topic its made up of posts, it gets posted in a sub forum, and there can be multiple sub forums in a forum, multiple forums in a section
