Got my dream car last night. 07 E63 everything but perf pack and distronic. Love.
I was getting the records out of the car tonight when I came across this strange small box, It wasn't connected to anything, it was just laying there in the rear glovebox cubby where the iPod connector is. One side has a metal pin connector, the other side has 4 dip switches.
I googled the heck out of everything on the label, but nada. Anyone know what this is? Thank you very much, Ed
Looks just like mine (diff labeling). So, what does/can it do? I don't believe PO ever replaced the head unit. I know the NAV s/w bothered him though as there are many dealer records with quotes for the later nav updates (mine is a 2007).

it allows an aftermarket head unit to "talk" with the fiber optic system and allow your steering wheel controls to work among other things. If you don't have a new head unit it is basically useless to you.
