I have been thinking about getting some monitoring tools for the last few months and after reading Barry's standard newbie post many times https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...ml#post7169029 I decided to get a solar BA-5 battery tester (thank you for the advice). The main battery is 850CCA and I got 776 which I think it pretty good. The auxillary battery I got 209CCA. I believe they are both AGM (absorbent glass matt, not AMG which is what I initially read it as) but I couldn't find the CCA for the auxillary battery, it wasn't printed on it but I assume it is about 200CCA if anyone knows for sure?

It is very easy to use, it is powered by the cars battery being tested so no need for battery replacement of the unit itself. It displays voltage immediately and the you select battery type and CCA and you have your answer. The battery doesn't need to be disconnected from the car to test. Basic first test for any power related issues and regular monitoring before the battery dies somewhere inconvenient.

Next up is fuel pressure gauge. We all know the fuel filter gets clogged over time and reduces the fuel pressure sometimes by a huge amount. Ideally we are aiming for somewhere around 77-84psi depending on which numbers you read on the forums. I got 78psi which makes me happy. You will need a 4AN to 1/8NPT adapter. This is the same as the Chevy/Holden fuel rail adapter for a gauge which means you can get them anywhere, ebay, summit racing, most performance hose shops. https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...ure-gauge.html

Now the issue is that the stock rail has a schrader valve inside the 4AN fitting. This means that if you connect up an adapter and gauge you still won't have any pressure to read as there isn't an adapter I could find that will depress the valve. You can either get a schrader valve removal tool to unscrew the fitting inside or you can stick something in there to push down on it. The removal idea is best if you want a permanent reading inside the car such as this https://www.dynotunenitrous.com/stor...?idproduct=130 I only wanted to check it now and maybe once per year following this to get a rough idea of fuel pump health. I found a small nail, cut it in half and put it into the black adapter. The nail head doesn't fit through the small hole inside the adapter so the nail head just depresses the schrader valve when it is done up. Worked perfectly. 65-70psi is the reading after turning the car off again. Put teflon tape on the NPT gauge fitting or it will leak.

Finally, everyone should have STAR preferably or at least something else that can read all mercedes codes. I chose something else as I didn't want to pay for a STAR clone, I didn't want to store it and I didn't want to go through the learning curve. And finally my computer has a 8700K and a 1080ti for anyone who is into computers will know that using a crappy old laptop to make STAR work can be a bit challenging for the soul. I got a icarsoft MBii. It can read all MB codes in all systems, can deactivate SBC for bleeding or brake replacement, read transmission temperature, stream live data and many other things I don't yet know about. It can fit in the glove box and runs from the power over the OBD2 port so no batteries required for this one either. I am very content visiting the dealer for anything that this can't do, ie transmission clutch pack times, airmatic leveling, coding new ecu etc. Hope this helps someone.
