Finally got my E55

well ive been wanting one for a while now and drove up to sacramento to look at it and drive it. Got it transported here and just got it today morning. Only had a chance to drive it 15-20min before driving to work with my e550. Must say i was expecting a ton of torque bottom end when normally driving but seemed slower then my e550 till revs pick up and the thing just hauls ***. Got a ding guy coming out to fix a couple of dings and then take it to a mechanic to get my engine and tranny oils changed. Ordering lowering links and then swapping my e550 wheels to my e55. Got a few things i wanna do with it.

it shouldnt need that many rev's for torque to kick in -- maybe 1200+ ,, i would look into getting a tune with one of the reputable tuners that are on this forum and look into replacing your heat exchanger pump --

I'd stick with one of the known tuners on here instead of looking on Ebay. Eurocharged and Race IQ are good ones.

If you want some lowering links I have a set of these I'll sell for cheap: https://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCEDES-E-CLASS-W211-E55-E63-EVOLUTION-LOWERING-KIT-LINKAGES-LINKS/122650375362?hash=item1c8e8834c2:g:9XkAAOSwUYNaIX3-&vxp=mtr

Power should be available instantly. One thing to note is that if your cruising your car might be in 4th or 5th gear ...in this scenario you need to ensure you push the pedal right down and hit the button on the floor with it to ensure a downshift. Otherwise youll have to push through low revs in 5th before the power hits which is annoying if you wanna go now.

I noticed this too, quite annoying.

I feel like something is wrong if you are not absolutely overwhelmed with torque in any gear. Maybe not below 1500 as pointed out already but above that....
+1 on eurocharged or race iq tune. Add in a smaller pulley if you want it to be undriveable in the lower revs.

There is no way it should feel like that the E55 will destroy tires at will. Also make sure ur not in C comfort mode that makes u start off in 2nd

Im always in Comfort Mode, right now since i dont think tranny oil has been changed i need to change it asap. The car shifts smooth and great no issues i just want to do it for piece of mind.

2nd gear in comfort still has some serious pull.

I was stuck in traffic today coming home, this cars braking system sucks lol. It feels really heavy and then it grabs and then doesnt feel like its grabbing enough. Its like im telling some dude “ hey its time to brake” and that dude decides how much pressure and when. I floored it a couple of times nothing big as far as acceleration. I hear the supercharger whine but doesnt pull as hard as i was expecting it to. After i get the ding guy to come and the spot painter due tranny oil change maybe look at IC pump and start the modding. Right now and i own both having a hard time believing its much faster then my e550.

Why did you buy it if it is disappointing you so much? Did you get a PPI? Maybe find someone close by who can give you a ride in an E55 definitely in good working order for comparison.

i may have high expectations or maybe something wrong with it. I wouldnt be suprised if this car has 87 octane in it if that makes a difference.

I don't know if it helps but my E55 is way faster than my CLK55 was. Although the CLK55 N/A M113 engine doesn't quite compare to the M273 engine in your E550 in terms of peak power the low end torque is definitely comparable, maybe even more pronounced and I hope the car was a bit lighter than an E-class. The only thing I noticed was the final drive ratio was higher on the CLK55 so with the same gearbox it had slightly higher revs at the same speed and better torque than the E55 at 1000-1300rpm until the supercharger was inside the efficiency zone then it is not comparable at all.

I found this vid but the E55 has some undisclosed mods
The E550 will always be a great car.

i think ive pretty much figured it out. Im stuck in stop and go traffic for 40min and when i exited i did a couple of wot runs so maybe heatsoaked. Today im coming to work no traffic nice and cold stomp on it 70-90mph in mexico ofcourse and i said holy sh*t it hauls i guess i need to let roms climb as well i let off a little past 3krpms if that.

You need to upgrade your IC pump. I had W210 E55 so very close to W211 E550 in performance... My W211 destroy W210 !

Mods are great, but be sure to take care of the maintenance and fix whatever is wrong, first. It sounds like you're off to a good start on the maintenance, but there's definitely something wrong if it feels anything like your E550. The E550 is not a slow car, but the E55 should be on a whole other level (especially with respect to bottom end torque). Sport mode will make a huge difference, but it sounds like there's more going on. It's probably just the IC pump, as others have suggested. If this is the case, the first time you accelerate, it should be pretty good but after a few hard pulls, you will have very little power. Also, make sure the intercooler is properly bled. If it has had any work on the cooling system, there's a pretty good chance there's a lot of air in the intercooler system (dealers are hit or miss and outside shops virtually never bleed them unless it's a specialist).

As for mods, I would strongly recommend staying far away from small companies on ebay. It's really easy to blow an engine with a bad tune, especially if you add a pulley too.

Yep grab a Bosch "010" intercooler pump and a PLM heat exchanger and you are good to go. If you are planning to go really crazy on the mods later then a secondary heat exchanger as well (and/or under hood tank) and a superflo pump might be a better choice but usually unnecessary for daily driven antics.

You can buy stock parts off ebay just make sure the brand is reputable like bosch 010 pump. Mods use forum sponsors they best service and quality. Also their products have lots of reviews here

Also grab an ELM327 OBDII adapter and torque or dashcommand app. You can monitor and log most of your engine parameters. I got one of the $10 Chinese adapters from amazon and have had no issues with Torque. Dashcommand was a little finicky connecting and the indications responded slower when I compared them. But they both have a free version you can try out and see which you like better, then it's like $10 or something for the full version. Also torque outputs logs in CSV and I don't believe dash command can.

Here is the style I bought:
https://www.amazon.com/Mestart-Bluetooth-Diagnostic-Scanner-Android/dp/B01HXGX8V6/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1522459613&sr=1-4&keywords=elm327 https://www.amazon.com/Mestart-Bluetooth-Diagnostic-Scanner-Android/dp/B01HXGX8V6/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1522459613&sr=1-4&keywords=elm327

Oh yeah and I think apple users have to get a wifi adapter vs the bluetooth type, not certain though.
