What a silent e55 that i have!
love my 2004 e55! Great engine, great sound (or maybe not). Only when you floor it down we do realize that it is an amg
so ok here is the deal; i remove my cats (all of them), no resonator, x pipe the exhaust and kept the stock mufflers and still very quite car!!!what i’m looking for is more decibels, so the car get noticed even when your low on rpm or even when parked so what to do? Do i straight pipe? Maybe too loud and vulgare. I have two options: first is long tube headers and second changing the mufflers. Both would be great but very expensive. I’m poor amg guy

what is the best mufflers to replace the stock ones which give high sounding roaring sound? Guys told me c63 or cls 55. Do you agree? What do you suggest?
regards
In the meantime i gutted my mufflers by taking all the insulation out of it. There is lots of write ups on here for that. I love the sound and would even debate putting the 63 mufflers on it now.
For what its worth I have headers->x-pipe->gutted mufflers.

Did you remove the inside of the muffler?
The cold starts are somewhat C63 esque, with the crackle and burbles. Cruising is exactly as it should be throaty when needed however silent if you want it...this is a sedan and not a mustang after all.
Lastly when you are wot the exhaust rips. sounds awesome. I would not call the car extremely loud.
I only removed the fiberglass insulation and whatever material i could pull out of the chamber of the muffler. no modification of the exhaust path.
My friend has exactly the same except C63 boxes.
Both are extremely loud at WOT, but the C63 boxes are noticeably louder. Stood behind it on dyno and had some minor temporary hearing loss.
At idle they're both not too bad, but if you're getting after it, even partial throttle, it makes a lot of attention.
I'm thinking of going with something a little quieter soon, maybe CLS55 boxes.

Very quiet at idle, but get on the pedal even a little bit and it sounds like a muscle car should. You just don't hear it from inside. Have someone drive it and you listen from outside you'll see how loud your car is.
Why be a cop magnet with loud pipes? Blend in bro, that's the magic of owning the ultimate granpa mobile sleeper. You have a good thing going on with this car, it's a cop repellent.

I also added a Sprint Booster that works as advertised.
Plan on getting a VBox to see exactly how much quicker my car is now.
Hoping for a sub 5 second zero to sixty run - stock time is around 5.8.
If on stock headers and just truly want sound, get electric exhaust cutouts. They are $480 with remote before install cost.
