Used 2005 E55 Pano Roof - buy or avoid?
Hello,
Looking for advice as I have been looking for a 2005-2006 E55 for a while. I occasionally see ones with Pano roof which seem more rare. I have heard complaints about creaks and steep repair bills when they need rebuild/repair.
I saw an 2005 with 70K and it looks really nice but am hesitant - it is a 13 year old car. Also, my condo has underground parking so I have to drive up and down a ramp pretty much every day. Making the turn up or down the does flex or twist the body. Should I avoid or be concerned here?
thanks!

I have an 07 E63, and I've not heard any creaks or repair bills that you mention. And this is a 11 yrs old car.
So I must assume, that this isn't the norm for most owners.

So your E63 is firm and quiet? I ask because I hate a lot of rattles. I driven high mileage E55's and they feel so solid. Not a rattle to speak of. I wasn't sure if the roof/chassis would flex more with Pano thereby causing rattles etc.

My panoramic roof makes a squeak unless I open it up. I assume maybe it's the rubber gaskets rubbing against eachother but I haven't really looked into it yet. That's the only creak or rattle that I have though. Also my panoramic roof doesn't really work properly which I haven't had the time to fix either. The sunroof with open but studders and makes the machine gun noise when trying to close the shade.

Thanks! That is good to know. There are several threads for problems with Pano roof and $2500 repair bills to replace the rails etc.

But understand that these cars were $100K+ when new, so there going to have expensive repairs bill, relative to the cost of the vehicle.

I have a pano roof on my 2007 E63. It makes a little noise every once in awhile when pulling into an angled driveway, but it's not enough to be a bother. Everything works fine with it and I've had no issues. I rarely open the sunroof and keep the sun shade closed most of the time.
edit: I've got around 84,000 miles on mine.

mine would creak sometimes...doesn't really bother me. i get lots of enjoyment and usage out of my pano roof.
one thing to mention though...with any car that is performance or exotic...when you don't use it...they tend to break. same with the pano...when i don't use it...it gives me a hard time and takes multiple tries to open. when i use it at least once a week, or once a month, its awesome.
