Couldn't Wait
 

I had some bad news from my dealar on Wednesday that my 05 E55 order was pushed out another month and the car wouldn't be in production until September. This is the third time since my order was turned into a 05 order from a 04. Given the fact I have the new car itch and hated the fact I wouldn't receive the car until fall (good weather in Chicago is short), I made a decision to change directions.

I was succesful today in purchasing an Atlas Grey Porsche CS4 with a performance exhaust (customer who ordered the car also changed direction). I've been so excited about the E55 after reading many of the threads on this forum but I just couldn't wait given the unpredictable answer I was getting from MB. (call me weak, impatient or simply love instant gratification) I

Anyway, I've enjoyed reading the threads on this forum (besides for the few threads about M5 versus E55 (who cares) and the recent who said she said thread small dick mini-series) and I will probably regret some of the attributes I gave up for the driving experince of the CS4. However, I am not one that compares these cars as they are targeted at different segments with different driving characteristics and by far, currently their best in their class. I only hope someday I can afford the best of both worlds or stated another way, I can not justify a third car investment (probably bad choice of words for buying any car) against buying something for the house that makes the other half happy, e.g. rug, bedding, etc.

Thanks for the information/feedback and I look forward to seeing you and the E55 on the road even though I may struggle to keep pace in a straight out drag. We'll see you in the turns.....

I myself was debating the same cars too. Totally different animals, but I was looking at a new C4S or a used turbo. Im trying to get some answers from my salesman now. I contacted him yesterday since everyone with 05 tectite order seems to be getting delayed, but I heard nothing from him. When I did get in touch with him, it was the first time he was hearing about tectite getting discontinued, and he gave me some other stuff about merc credit saying this was too much car for me bla bla bla. Just get me the damn car, and youll have a cashier check in hand for the amount.

Congratulations, and I wonder if I'm the only one who would prefer the 996 body style over the 997?

Hey if you put on winter tires, you can even push the new toy to its limit in Chicago!

Congrats Lindross sad to hear that u turned down the E55 nevertheless you picked an amazing German car congrats once again

Personally I would go for a 993 turbo body style over the 996 and 997 it truly looks like a mean monster on wheels (very aggressive) :X

Either way, the Porsche you purchased or the long wait for the E55, I believe they're both worth it.

Sounds awesome!! Atlas Grey is an amazing color, and the C4S is a beautiful car. Enjoy it.
