I can’t catch a damn break from this car

Cleaned up the mess from under the car yesterday, then today I started my car and my father was talking to me and he hears a noise. Pops the hood, and bam! All I see was the supercharger not moving correctly, as if it was off rotation a bit. He tells me shut it off and the bearing is melted like someone took a torch or something I don’t even know. So I just drove to school and after 9:35 which I finish class today I’ll just head to uncle shop and ask him to remove belt from supercharger.

its going to have to wait until I finish the details I have to do this weekend.

Unfortunately, with older cars things break and more maintenance is required, that's just the nature of things.

That's basic maintenance on these cars. If you didn't notice the pulley bearing going bad, chances are your not up to date on a lot of stuff. Have you changed the SC oil? Brake fluid? Alternator brushes, CPS? Checked your idler pulley bearings?

no, no, no, no, no. Ok fine you got me today I’m doing maintenance on my car. I’ve never done the SC oil or anything for that matter. I guess I really should check it. But regarding the pulley, maybe that’s why the screeching noise was happening randomly. I literally am horrible at noticing the obvious.

That bearing had to be raising hell. Should have been a dead giveaway something was going wrong.

I think the giveaway was the screeching noise for sure. Never happened when I originally had the car then started hearing if. My fault again

I heard from a mechanic that lot of times most people who have changed there SC oil had them fail just a few months later. I had bought the oil and wanted to do it but held off because of that advice. Have people changed there SC oil and has anyone had any issues?

I haven't heard any truth to this. All you have to do is suck out as much oil as possible, then put the same amount of oil back in. I've seen some people fill it up too high, but even then I don't think you would kill the SC unless there was no oil at all.

I could probably believe this only if there was very little oil put back into the SC. Thereby causing the SC to fail, due to lack of lubrication and cooling.

Get another mechanic. That one sucks. Seriously. The reason for the failure is the owner waited until failure was imminent. The owner should have performed preventive maintenance. If a mechanic told me what he told you, I would back away and depart as rapidly as possible. And you can tell that so-called "mechanic" I said so.

Sounds kind of like the "sealed for life" transmission fluid change and resulting failure debate doesn't it?

If you do the long neglected maintenance just before failure is imminent...

Chances are it's the rear bearings that fail, having nothing to do with the ones in oil.

So my car doesn’t make any supercharger noise like the video. It’s back to normal for some reason literally sounds really good.

Mate you can see from the first picture you posted its toast, it may not be making noise now but its still ****ed so defo need to get a 77mm from shardul. Don't go smaller your in a hot climate trust me I'm in medium to cold climate with modest cooling upgrades and I still lose power to heatsoak. You might even be better off with a 83...

that's because most of the bearing pins have been grounded to dust lol and its a matter of time before it seizes. change the bearing yesterday already lol

The new pulley shouldn't fail for years to come.
