I have some major corrosion on some of my motor pulleys. Since these pictures I have taken some sand paper and sanded them to the metal and made them smooth again. Was this move ok? I just did the guide pulleys (first picture).
Sure, you can always clean them. There is usually something like a belt residue on the smooth pullies, it's a rubbery stuff that scrapes off pretty easily, I am pretty OCD so I will clean them if I have the belt off for whatever reason. Never have an issue.
