E55 oil analysis results

Sent in my oil for analysis through Blackstone. I have an 05 E55 with 153k miles. Mods are upper pulley, tune and full exhaust. This report is for 0w40 Mobil 1 oil with 3k miles of use and did not add any oil. I made the switch to rotella 5w40. My impression so far from switching oil is a bit quieter valve train. This is my daily and I'm planing on keeping it for a few more years until I can maybe upgrade to a E63. The test shows the motor is healthy as can be. I was concerned with blow-by the motor is producing but seems to be fine according to them.

Interesting, was curious what the report says that they send you . For most of its life your were running mobil1 0w40? Curious as this oil is pretty cheap at my local dealer , does / is anyone running it . Looks like the same part # they billed on my e55 at one point ?

All the car has ever had is Mobil 1 0w40. The reason I switch to rotella is due to it having more anti wear capability. After 3000 miles I'll send in another sample and compare the two oils. However, that probably won't indicate much since Mobil 1 seems to of done a great job thus far.

Mobil 1 is what is recomended. This is what Mercedes was sold on by Mobil and needed to get through the tighter emmisions. The "0" in the rating is for emissions plain and simple.
The additive pack in the oil is much less than say a "5" rating. So 5w-40 will always have better wear charicteristics than a 0w-40 oil. Just some FYI.

Interesting thanks for the info

Yes. On oils, hopefully to skirt over the full nuclear debate - what the OEMs maintain you should use, and what YOU should use if you want 300k out of an engine are different because the financial aspect is different. OEM = concern over emissions and return issues at start of warranty through to end of warranty /End. What YOU are concerned over is overall wear. These are different business objectives.

this is very helpful. My e55 has similar mods and 152k miles and I drive the snot out of it. I put over 300k miles on my C43 and never had an issue, so I'm hoping to do the same with the E55.

Blackstone test oil: Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W/40
Right now running Castrol Edge euro 0w/40. Once I do my oil change and analysis will post the results here.

Black stone is really trying to be postive in their wording with people. I wonder what they do when it’s bad news.

I tested my vette and they say I coild
go to 9k miles on the change. I won’t, but it’s nice to know the state of the oil.
