Went to the track today

As the title says me and a good friend went to the track today fontana,ca. I can say that it was a very humbling experience and to be honest wasn't expecting any good results either before going but didn't realize how bad it was gonna be.

On my first run i spun pretty bad to say the least ran a 13.7 at 109mph. Was noticing issues top end like it wasn't pulling as hard but didn't think much of it and continued on. That was power brake till 1500rpms in Sport Mode Tranny, S1 on suspension.

2nd Run: i let the car rest 10 minutes, decided i had way too much wheel spin the first time so i went in comfort mode start in 2nd gear. Well that was a mistake it spun a bit, bogged bad and then slowly but surely started going and ran i think 14’s at 107mph.

3rd run: i did not let the car cool just went after my 2nd run, that ended up being another bad decision. I decided to go back in sport mode, suspension in raised height and amazingly it launched perfect i just took my foot off the brake and slowly eased into throttle and no wheel spin, well happiness short lived. As soon as i get to 80mph i noticed i had no power but rpms was climbing like someone pulled the rug from underneath me. Ran 13.6 at 80mph. I felt really good about that run felt like I could’ve ran 12’s around 111-113mph but ohh well.

My thought is this car badly needs cooling. Fastest one i saw there a e55, very fast was running a 124mph. Impressively fast i thought. Either way a very fun day i survived and drove home.

Your car is not running properly.
Potential issues could be a myriad of things, but I would start with the intercooler pump.

Are you data logging ? , if not hard to tell what’s going on despite your extra cooling

i tried to look at iat’s but the bluetooth was off and on with my dashcommand app. When driving there and driving home iat’s were 15-18 above ambient. I can here the pump too. Not sure if the car was having issues with esp/abs system effecting the car or not. After a burnout, felt like the rear tires would lock up a bit because when i would pull forward i would have no power at first esp/abs would turn on and when i do pull forward it would make my rear tires screetch like there locked up. Not sure if you would be able to tell but after this burnout it took a second for the car to go and them you here my rear tires drag a bit. In this vid i let off around 80mph i was having issues right when it hit 70-75mph just fell on it’s face too bad it was a decent launch felt good about the run. I didn't park it to let it cool i just went on this run right after my second run.

Sounds to me like the iats got to high an the supercharger disengaged.

Also id try to run it in dyno mode at the track to eliminate any abs or esp from turning on. Just a thought

What you are describing was exactly what happened to me the first time out. It is 99.9% a dead intercooler pump. Get it fixed and get some Hoosiers and you'll be running 12.20's.

UPDATED response: I missed that you have an aftermarket pump. You'll definitely want to log your IAT's during a run to see if they are out of control. My bet is they hit > 200 deg. F and shut off the supercharger mid-run. That's what mine did and my ET's were very similar to yours.

I think your right, not having headers and no real cooling mods for track day and back to back runs with burnouts and the supercharger said nighty night I’m done. I want to see if i can do a group buy on a KIller Chiller. I dont know I’ll look into that option for sure wether it’s possible to do group buy or not.

A Killer Chiller and a tank will be your best friend at the track. Large pumps and heat exchangers don't do you much good sitting in the staging lanes. By the time you have enough airflow the run is half over.

Here's my solution:

I went through Kincaid to see if I can get it from them they seem to be cheaper, I could be mistaken. They said there is no exact kit for my 06 E55. I thought that was strange. Going through someone else I see them for 800 plus you would need a tank. I noticed the stuff I've done really just somewhat help for daily driving if temps are not too high. Even then the car still suffers from heat once ambient temps go up anyway.

whys it falling on its face was it during gear change? Really need to go to a quiet country/highway road and do a few 20-60 pulls back to back braking hard inbwteen to really get the car warm and log temps
