Ice cold AC again!
Hey guys long time I didn’t post but life is what it is lol
Here’s a run down of a maintenance that many of our cars will need but no one wants to do.
I had been dealing with a blender motor that wouldn’t work and with south Florida heat this was not going to work with me anymore plus I have a killer chiller that was taking its toll to dial in with adding and decreasing Freon and wasn’t being as efficient
Sooooo.....
Parts were as follows:
Blender motors
Expansion valve
Evaporator (was leaking and only saw it after it was opened)
Dryer
Parts that I needed after opening and finding more issues lol
Top of vent housing because some doors were broken or hinges were broken so rather put a brand new one
High pressure hose and will explain why
The pics speak for themselves, this is not an easy job at all and recommend you find a tech that has done this MANY times as dealerships these days have kids working that have no idea what they are doing , ask e55greasemonkey since he is a true mb tech lol
All went good and pressures looked good but still the system was only getting as cold as 68* on a 90* day, it was frustrating but this is where experience comes in and mike at Boca tech was fantastic
He found the problem was the high pressure hose was packed with the dessicants from the dryer (pics are included)
After fixing the ac its ice cold and all sides have the right air, the kc is also ice cold.
On 91* south Florida day it’s 49* inside
Spot on!
If in Florida I highly recommend Boca Tech in Boca Raton
👍
Vent housing
Inside vent housing is the heater core, evaporator and expansion valve
Evaporator and expansion valve
Dessicants in high pressure hose
High pressure hose full of same dessicants
High pressure hose
Looks like a disaster and made me wonder if it would all be ok lol
All dessicants in benda of high pressure hose
End result temps on all vents!

lol
trust me I was not feeling too well when I saw that
the tech laughed at told me a story of many years ago a car that was under warranty needed a repair that was similar and the service writer had the bright idea to show the lady how it looked in process lol
she did have an anxiety attack lol
she brought the car back numerous times citing issues when there weren’t any, she got the car lemon acted after she threatened a lawsuit lmao
bro I truly hope you don’t need it

Good to see you back! I hate interior work because I always break some plastic clip somewhere. Never really understand how a piece comes out until you see the back side.

Yes, I’m sure anyone can find someone cheaper but for something like this I wanted someone who could do it with their eyes closed basically lol
as for parts , pelican was well priced for the stock parts that I initially thought I would need

A/C relay/switch/fuse location
[QUOTE=Hulk;7752722]Hey guys long time I didn’t post but life is what it is lol
Here’s a run down of a maintenance that many of our cars will need but no one wants to do.
....not sure if this is relates but where is the A/C relay?
...I’m trying to wire in my KC bypass valve to the cabin A/C button. That way when my wife drives the car and “forgets” to leave the A/Cand turns it off it will switch over the bypass valve to the HE.
