A few STAR question please....
In the mean time, I have a couple of other issues I want to address. The car used to NOT lock the doors automatically, and used to chirp when I locked the doors with the key fob od the buttons on the handles. Somehow I changed that a while ago to auto locking and no chirp. I would like to change both back to what they were but I'll be darned if I can remember how to go back and do it. Does anyone know? The sticky STAR thread is such a mess that I can't find it in there.
I also have a A/C problem that's really strange that I can't figure out. The A/C works great unless the car has been parked out in the sun. If I back it out of a garage it cools right off, and all is good. If the car has been in the sun, it blows hot air for a good 5 minutes, and then eventually cools off. It wasn't like that before. It's more than just blowing the the stagnant hot air through the vents. That air is long gone, and it's still blowing hot air. I did a system check with STAR, and I got a 9450 B31 code, C AAC Multifunction sensor. However there is a thin crossout line through it. What does the code mean, and what is the significance of the thin crossed out line through it? I haven't seen that before. Another strange thing on that is that in the No. column it keeps counting up, it went from 1 to 5 to 9. Any ideas on this?
Thanks guys. Just a random thought, I wish there was a way to somehow organize that sticky thread on STAR use. There's so much info in there, but it's so disorganized and boogered up with random where do I buy a STAR, etc questions that it's almost unusable. I wonder if that can be edited and organized somehow.
P0410 is a defective secondary air fan. Just buy the cheapo Chinese one, and it lasts a long time. 20 minute replacement.
A/C Issue: Go into diagnostic mode on your AC unit in dash (press and hold left auto button for about 7 seconds until it switches to 01). Then scroll up with left temperature settings until you get to 05. On the right hand is another number: the evaporator temperature. That should very quickly drop down around 1-2 degrees. If it doesn't , you need to add a little R134 to your system, because it leaked out. Can happen if car is sitting, or has sat for a while. Adding a little R134 will make the system seal back up, ironically.
The AAC Multifunction sensor is separate, and means the sensor under the dash is bad. Go on eBay and buy a Bosch one for $10 used.
The options for key fobs, and all that is in the central gateway if memory serves. Try there, the instrument cluster, or one of the SAM modules. I'm literally too lazy to bring mine up and look, but I do believe its CGW.
I can give you the actual coding instructions for STAR to turn off the secondary air pump, but honestly, just replace it. You won't pass smog anyway.
