Things to look for when purchasing.

Looking at getting into the world of AMG and purchasing an 04-06 E55. Is there anything specific I should be looking for. Maintenance needed for cars with 100k miles etc. Thank you in advance for your help.

Be advised I'm a "replace it before it breaks" guy so I spend money early to keep me off the side of the road. Others maintain per manufacturer's recommendations. You really, really need to avoid buying an E55 from someone who could not afford to maintain it unless you are prepared to drop several thousand dollars in parts into it.

SBC now has a 25-year unlimited mileage warranty; fuel tank a 15-year replacement warranty in event of failure. If the tank hasn't failed, you pay for the fuel pumps and filter/regulator (~$1000 for parts).

Thank you so much for the thorough response. Been wanting an e55 for awhile now and don’t have much knowledge on anything MB.

In addition to old mate aboves things..
Alternator 300 usd?
Airmatic 400 usd a corner
Random sensors - maf iat o2 etc. Usually 100-200 each
Transmission Conductor plate 180

Cant think off the top of my head what else but those are all reasonable maintenance items you might expect to replace during the next couple of years of ownership. Maybe none of them or maybe all of them who knows its always a gamble on cars! Even better if they're already done!

These cars have great knowledge on forum you can find DIY guides for most common failure parts which anyone can do with a bit of time and patience. I was not mechanical at all before I got my 55 but I soon learnt working on cars is all just undoing bolts and tightening bolts it so ez mode!!!
