Same question, been avoiding the 82 Bc of hiccups

E55amg0220 07-03-2019 09:54 AM

Come on people i know a lot of u have a 90mm

Hulk 07-04-2019 08:40 AM

If you have hiccup issue with the 82mm then 90mm will be a problem as well. The hiccup issue has been a problem for years with some cars, I truly believe it’s an ecu issue as some have switched timers and think it’s good and a few days later comes back, there’s a thread about it and denroll back in the day was a true guinea pig for the cause and still no help

guys have had to go back to the stock or 80mm to avoid that hiccup issue

That hiccup problem has been debated many times!
i also belive its a ecu issue and not airleaks as some claims.

Thanks guys i KNOW its not air leaks i sealed mine perfect several times even smoke tested it with 3 different smokers an all showed no leaks. I too think its something to do with the ecu wish someone would figure it out cus a bigger TB sure would open up for some nice gains. I may get an 80mm an have it opened up to its max an just use that i dont hear many probs with the 80mm

Hulk 07-04-2019 11:44 AM

80mm has no problems don’t worry
some have complained about once they went to 82mm and went back they kept the hiccup but it was fixed with a reflash

SICAMG 07-04-2019 04:08 PM

Hulk will hopefully be correct as I am putting one on right now.
But....do not waist your time on a 90mm. Testing the 80,82 and 90 on a flow bench atatched to the inlet housing showed -0- gain in flow. Why ?? The inlet itself internally is restrictive so even putting a 100mm throttle body will do nothing. to help the cause. The hiccup is from the low air flow mismatch so to speak, that triggers the mil light.

Well Ive used my superflow600 to port an polish the rear inlet an while there wasnt a lot I could improve on ... i was able to port an polish it an made a gain of 15%. This was with a gain in velocity as well so not unhappy with it. I think with the 80mm it would pick up some power.

Good stuff. Did you see that the inlet will support a gain with the 80mm, over the 74mm?

SICAMG 07-04-2019 06:19 PM

Yes. But remember the biggest effect any larger throttle body will have is off idle tip in and low to mid range...Yes it will add more HP up top, but the lower end has a much added effect do to more air going in......... allowed to go in ,at a given throttle angle, and will FEEL like a lot more power as well.

VictoryRoadPerformance 07-05-2019 12:30 PM

We have probably 15 customers running 90mm. zero complaints of hiccup.

Our snout is bored out fully to 90mm.. to achieve this we have to mill off about 2" of material and weld on a custom billet plate.

^^^^ the snout you sell has no bearing on the hiccup in fact if the ecu is prone to the hiccup a snout made by anyone (yes including you) will NOT make a difference

90mm is not prone to the hiccup 82 users are having.

The snout post is in reference to the post that the air passage is the restriction, we eliminate that.

Hulk 07-05-2019 03:36 PM

Lmao
ya so the ecu that are prone to leanness hiccup issues because of added air with 82mm won’t have issues with a 90mm that has more air flow?
please explain that? Or is it that your plenum is not really ported to allow more air flow and just has an adapter plate to fit the 90mm tb?

give us all a break with the sales pitch!

VictoryRoadPerformance 07-05-2019 03:42 PM

Not all 82 users have a hiccup. and the hiccup is NOT related to increased volume of air. I believe this issue is related to the throttle bodies themselves and the actuator, not the ECU or a leak. I can tell you customers who have moved FROM 82 or 85 due to a hiccup are not experiencing that with a 90mm. we also have not had any comlpaints of hiccup from our 85mm users which is a rebuilt throttle body.

and the plate on our 90 snout is welded on, but you can see we mill down quite a bit on the snout in order to get it so that the inlet will be a true 90, not a 90mm flange bolted on an 8X snout.

What's with the attacks? VRP is just giving his feedback.

Hulk 07-05-2019 05:09 PM

His feedback or his sales pitch? Big difference
secondly bull**** on different throttle bodies as many many members have switched to Benz tb to Audi or Porsche all the same it’s an ecu issue.
If VRP feels his stuff is immune to the hiccup issue no matter what ecu will he offer a no hassle return to anyone who experiences a problem no questions asked?

We have actually already offered that to people in the past with quite a few takers, and still no returns.. (on 85mm specifically)

Hulk 07-05-2019 05:36 PM

Perfect!
I hope you keep your word or guys can come back to this post and call you out

anyone that wants to test out if your car can handle a bigger tb then goto vrp he is offering 100% money back guarantee NO questions asked if anything goes wrong

Hulk 07-05-2019 07:27 PM

Adianaty made them and hes out of the game onto greener pastures

Hulk 07-05-2019 08:12 PM

Besides we have VRP here offering NO questions asked money back guarantee for his throttle body kits
